{"id":127229,"date":"2024-09-27T21:34:45","date_gmt":"2024-09-28T01:34:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/prowrestling\/?p=127229"},"modified":"2024-09-27T21:35:08","modified_gmt":"2024-09-28T01:35:08","slug":"ej-nduka-reveals-wwe-alleged-nda-blackball","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/prowrestling\/2024\/09\/27\/ej-nduka-reveals-wwe-alleged-nda-blackball\/","title":{"rendered":"EJ Nduka Reveals WWE Allegedly Pressured Him to Sign NDA, Warned He\u2019d\u00a0\u201cBlackball\u201d Himself for Speaking out After Release"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Former <em><strong>WWE NXT<\/strong><\/em> talent and current <strong>AEW<\/strong> and <strong>Ring of Honor<\/strong>\u00a0star <strong>EJ Nduka<\/strong> recently took to social media to reveal troubling details surrounding his WWE release during the pandemic releases in 2021. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Nduka, who wrestles in\u00a0<strong>ROH<\/strong> alongside new tag partner <strong>Lee Johnson<\/strong>, opened up about being pressured to sign a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) and being warned that speaking out about not receiving opportunities could lead to being blackballed from the wrestling industry.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Nduka, who wrestled under the ring name <strong>Ezra Judge<\/strong> during his <em>WWE NXT<\/em> tenure, was among the many wrestlers released during WWE&#8217;s cost-cutting measures during the pandemic. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In a new series of tweets, he discussed his experience and referenced comments made by <strong>Swerve Strickland<\/strong> about the challenges Black wrestlers face in reaching top star status in the industry.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In his tweets, Nduka made it clear that WWE not only released him without explanation but also allegedly sought to keep him silent. He wrote, <\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<h4><em><strong>\u201cThere\u2019s countless other people like me who were told to sign an NDA and never say, \u2018I wasn\u2019t given an opportunity,\u2019 because I would blackball myself. Fast forward three years later, I don\u2019t give a damn.&#8221;<\/strong><\/em><\/h4>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><b>WWE Release and NDA Pressure<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Nduka expressed deep frustration with how his release was handled, mentioning that WWE\u2019s actions allegedly put his family in financial jeopardy: <\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<h4><em><strong>\u201cThey pulled the rug from underneath my family and I and many other wrestlers cause [they] wanted to spend that money on hush money.&#8221;<\/strong><\/em><\/h4>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He further revealed that WWE attempted to keep him from joining AEW, despite him having already received offers: <\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<h4><em><strong>\u201cI recorded ALL and have receipts. They even tried to pay me off and prevent me from coming to AEW for a WHOLE YEAR. They said, \u2018Certain people don\u2019t like admitting when they make a mistake.\u2019\u201d <\/strong><\/em><\/h4>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This, while not clear whether this was before or after his release, could be the reason he appeared in <strong>MLW<\/strong> for over a year-long run before eventually arriving in AEW back in January 2023, two years on from his WWE release.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>Grateful for AEW and Tony Khan<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Despite the turmoil, Nduka expressed deep gratitude for AEW and ROH now he\u2019s there, thanking <strong>Tony Khan<\/strong> for providing him and other released talents the opportunity to continue their careers: <\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<h4><em><strong>\u201cI\u2019m forever grateful to AEW and Ring Of Honor and the ENTIRE locker room for building something from NOTHING. We are doing great things, and if it never existed, a lot of us would have disappeared.&#8221;<\/strong><\/em><\/h4>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Nduka praised Khan&#8217;s leadership compared to what he experienced in WWE, stating, \u201cI\u2019d rather work for a boss who is genuinely excited for your future and development&#8230;instead of one who ignores you or buries you for trying to be different.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>Nearly Quitting Wrestling<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">EJ Nduka also shared how close he came to leaving the wrestling business altogether after his WWE release. <\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<h4><em><strong>\u201cMy son was not even 3 months old when I got released. I was never given a reason why&#8230; We had nothing and it was in the middle of the pandemic.
