Talents like Mike Mendoza, <strong>Angel Fashion<\/strong>, <strong>Vanilla Vargas<\/strong>, <strong>OT Fern\u00e1ndez<\/strong>, <strong>JC Navarro<\/strong> and <strong>Roxxy<\/strong> are doing everything in their power to stand out. In that array of talents, there\u2019s one name missing, that missing wrestler is a fan-favorite in Puerto Rico and probably has one of the best upsizes \u2013 talent wise &#8211;\u00a0 in the businesses right now, <strong>El Cuervo<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_12631\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-12631\" style=\"width: 421px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-12631\" src=\"https:\/\/lwosonprowrestling.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2018\/01\/21751389_1284613158334335_2789141184560381401_n-e1516232806461.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"421\" height=\"600\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-12631\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo: Amaury Garcia<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Out of all the wrestlers that were mention, Cuervo is something of an enigma. Talent wise, he is right up there with guys like <strong>Championship Wrestling Association<\/strong>\u2019s top talent <strong>Star Roger<\/strong>, 2-time WWC Universal Champion <strong>Mecha Wolf 450<\/strong> and 2-time Puerto Rican champion Mike Mendoza. He has a dark gimmick, which fans are attracted, since there\u2019s parallels with <strong>Ricky Banderas<\/strong>\u2019s \u2013 <strong>Mil Muertes<\/strong> in <strong>Lucha Underground<\/strong> \u2013 \u201cMesias\u201d gimmick. His wrestling involves a lot high-flying moves, and he is very creative when it comes to extreme matches \u2013 hence his nickname <em>\u201cThe Most Extreme\u201d.<\/em><\/p>\n<div class=\"mceTemp\"><strong style=\"color: #111111; font-family: Roboto, sans-serif; font-size: 22px; line-height: 30px;\">Juventud Extrema with Mike Mendoza<\/strong><\/div>\n<figure id=\"attachment_12623\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-12623\" style=\"width: 450px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-12623\" src=\"https:\/\/lwosonprowrestling.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2018\/01\/25443117_1368382179957432_1553073802687110067_n-e1516232443195.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"450\" height=\"600\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-12623\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo: facebook.com\/pg\/ElCuervoEMX<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>In 2016, Cuervo really stood up. His tag team with Mike Mendoza \u2013 <strong>Juventud Extrema<\/strong> or Extreme Youth in english\u2013 exploded in the tag team division summer of that year, their combination of youth and athleticism made them a hot-act in <strong>World Wrestling Council<\/strong>. They later would feud, with Mendoza betraying Cuervo and doing a series of matches that would end up being consider for Match of the Year. After the feud, it seemed that WWC had found two stars to build their main event scene and mid card.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Cuervo vs  Mike Mendoza\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/2b8MKOuQwlU?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The year 2017 came, and it started well for both. Mendoza in the biggest show of that year \u2013 <strong>WWC Euforia<\/strong> \u2013 won the Puerto Rican title in a rumble and Cuervo defeated <strong>Hijo de Dos Caras<\/strong> \u2013 <strong>Alberto el Patr\u00f3n<\/strong>\u2019s brother \u2013 in substitution of Mecha Wolf 450. It was signs of a new WWC on a horizon. You had Mecha Wolf 450 as your main draw alongside Carlito, you had Mendoza alongside <strong>Ray Gonz\u00e1lez<\/strong> leading a new heel group \u2013 <strong>The Syndicate<\/strong> \u2013 and Cuervo &amp; Angel Fashion leading a counter offensive of babyfaces that could easily develop new stars in the local scene.<a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com.pr\/url?sa=t&amp;rct=j&amp;q=&amp;esrc=s&amp;source=web&amp;cd=6&amp;cad=rja&amp;uact=8&amp;ved=0ahUKEwi79Pqfxd_YAhXQ7VMKHckjBKAQFgg2MAU&amp;url=http%3A%2F%2Flastwordonprowrestling.com%2F2017%2F08%2F31%2Fwwc-in-front-of-its-last-round%2F&amp;usg=AOvVaw2vCQBZt11VRnk0pSiisyVC\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> But, as we know now, the story went sideways.<\/a><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_12627\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-12627\" style=\"width: 418px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-12627\" src=\"https:\/\/lwosonprowrestling.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2018\/01\/26814416_1396660947129555_864908535615236009_n-e1516232374704.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"418\" height=\"500\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-12627\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo: facebook.com\/pg\/ElCuervoEMX<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Mecha Wolf 450 would lose the WWC title after just one-day reign to veteran wrestler <strong>Thunder<\/strong>. Angel Fashion, Mike Mendoza &amp; Vanilla Vargas would leave the promotion and WWC\u2019s priorities change from that core of young talents to the booker\u2019s son, <strong>Ray Gonz\u00e1lez Jr.<\/strong> In midst of all those changes, one wrestler didn\u2019t change at all and was kept in the same place that he was in 2016, Cuervo was still seen as a tag team wrestler with no future.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Loyalty Without Reward in WWC<\/strong><\/h2>\n<figure id=\"attachment_12629\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-12629\" style=\"width: 328px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-12629\" src=\"https:\/\/lwosonprowrestling.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2018\/01\/17951857_1140992536029732_1279532768974922308_n-e1516232666131.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"328\" height=\"600\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-12629\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo: facebook.com\/pg\/ElCuervoEMX<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>El Cuervo stayed with WWC through this hard time, winning the Tag Title with veteran and former WWC Jr. Heavyweight Champion, <strong>Enyel<\/strong>. It seemed that Cuervo was hoping that his loyalty would pay through and he was going to be rewarded as their next new young star, but, again, WWC choose Ray Gonz\u00e1lez Sr. and his son.<\/p>\n<p>Cuervo would end up finding out that there\u2019s wasn\u2019t room for him as a star and that he would never win the WWC Universal championship, which is the championship that he dreams of. Not even Puerto Rican championship material he was deemed, so he exited Puerto Rico\u2019s oldest promotion and join the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com.pr\/url?sa=t&amp;rct=j&amp;q=&amp;esrc=s&amp;source=web&amp;cd=8&amp;cad=rja&amp;uact=8&amp;ved=0ahUKEwi79Pqfxd_YAhXQ7VMKHckjBKAQFghEMAc&amp;url=http%3A%2F%2Flastwordonprowrestling.com%2F2017%2F08%2F03%2Fcaribbean-report-cuervo-cwa-mighty-ursus-returns-wwl-much%2F&amp;usg=AOvVaw0b_iyAcv3TrF_N4nhEe1AF\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">hottest promotion right now, CWA<\/a>.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_12622\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-12622\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-12622\" src=\"https:\/\/lwosonprowrestling.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2018\/01\/24862095_1357451547717162_4113420648245369472_n-e1516232408818.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-12622\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">El Cuervo vs. Star Roger (Photo: Contralona)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>In CWA, he was saw as a superstar, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com.pr\/url?sa=t&amp;rct=j&amp;q=&amp;esrc=s&amp;source=web&amp;cd=7&amp;cad=rja&amp;uact=8&amp;ved=0ahUKEwi79Pqfxd_YAhXQ7VMKHckjBKAQFgg9MAY&amp;url=http%3A%2F%2Flastwordonprowrestling.com%2F2017%2F12%2F20%2F5-best-matches-in-rogers-cwa-championship-reign%2F&amp;usg=AOvVaw3q4F5B9vh6QEY-go9a91_i\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">quickly challenging Star Roger for the CWA title<\/a>. That hurt him more that it helps him, since Roger wasn\u2019t going to lose the title that quickly and now, we find a Cuervo floating around in the preliminary scene, finding his foot again in the door of the CWA championship.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Unleashing his Potential\u00a0<\/strong><\/h2>\n<figure id=\"attachment_12626\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-12626\" style=\"width: 427px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-12626\" src=\"https:\/\/lwosonprowrestling.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2018\/01\/26169641_1388995047896145_154837682301010310_n-e1516232510485.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"427\" height=\"600\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-12626\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo: facebook.com\/pg\/ElCuervoEMX<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>This new year represents an important moment for El Cuervo\u2019s career. While he was finding a place where he was perceived as a main player, wrestlers like JC Navarro, Angel Fashion and his old partner, Mike Mendoza, have up their stock in the Puerto Rican wrestling scene. He needs to breakout, and quickly, or he\u2019ll be forgotten by those fans that have followed him since the beginning of his career. In days were <strong>Justin Dynamite <\/strong>(who brings a lot of similarities, like huge reaction, aerial arsenal and unique look) is dominating the CWA, Cuervo needs to have an outstanding run, or he will never break out of the tag team division or lower card.<\/p>\n<p>It seems that looking for other promotions won\u2019t be the case, and that he needs to work hard and move himself wisely, so when it\u2019s time to pick top stars in CWA or other wrestling promotions, his one of them.
