While this was a foregone conclusion after no longer taking independent bookings and dropping the\u00a0PWG World Championship\u00a0<\/strong>at\u00a0Mystery Vortex V<\/strong><\/a>, fans can stop speculating about the former\u00a0Prince Puma<\/strong>‘s future.<\/p>\n

Many expect the signing of Ricochet to be the first of many major independent stars to be heading down to the\u00a0Performance Center<\/strong>. While only 29 years old, the 15-year veteran has held titles in\u00a0New Japan Pro Wrestling<\/strong>,\u00a0Pro Wrestling Guerilla<\/strong>,\u00a0Evolve<\/strong>,\u00a0Chikara<\/strong>,\u00a0Dragon Gate<\/strong>, and several other promotions globally. He was ranked 15th in 2016’s\u00a0PWI 500<\/strong>, and has also won numerous awards from the\u00a0Wrestling Observer Newsletter<\/strong>. If fans hadn’t heard of him from any of the previously mentioned accomplishments, he set the world on fire with a match against\u00a0Will Ospreay<\/strong>. The\u00a0Best of the Super Juniors<\/strong> match set Twitter on fire nearly immediately and is still talked about to this day.<\/p>\n

According to many reports, Lucha Underground<\/strong> had offered Ricochet one of the highest paying non-WWE contracts in all of professional wrestling. He opted instead to sign with the Stamford, Connecticut based company. Ricochet officially signing with the WWE is expected to be the first of several independent signings this year. This is a major get for the WWE, as many have considered the highly-decorated wrestler to be one of the most innovative high-flyers in years.
