The King and Queen of the Ring tournaments will\u00a0<\/span>both<\/span>\u00a0kick off on this week\u2019s\u00a0<\/span>WWE Raw.\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/strong>The XL Center crowd in Hartford,\u00a0<\/span>CT<\/span>\u00a0will need to\u00a0<\/span>put on a big performance to<\/span>\u00a0rival the French crowd from Saturday’s Backlash<\/strong><\/em> PLE.<\/span><\/p>\n

Eight matches have been announced across the King and Queen of the Ring<\/strong><\/em> tournament opening round. <\/span>Enjoy our preview of this tournament kicking off with our\u00a0WWE Raw\u00a0<\/em>preview.<\/span><\/p>\n

The final of the 2024 King and Queen of the Ring will take place during a PLE from Saudi Arabia on May 25.<\/p>\n

    King of the Ring\u00a0(General)<\/span><\/h3>\n

    \u201cThe Ring General\u201d\u00a0<\/span>Gunther\u00a0<\/span><\/strong>is looking to become the King of the Ring.<\/span><\/p>\n

    The single elimination format suits Gunther\u2019s style and persona perfectly. He went 666 days undefeated as Intercontinental Champion.\u00a0<\/span>But Gunther only has to win four matches to win the prestigious tournament.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    His opening-round opponent is Sheamus. The familiar Irish foe will pose a major threat to Gunther.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    Drew McIntyre, <\/span><\/strong>his<\/span>\u00a0biggest threat from the WWE Raw <\/em>bracket, faces <\/span>Finn Balor.<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0Gunther and McIntyre will hope to win the King of the Ring and cash that in for a shot at the World Heavyweight Championship, this summer. <\/span><\/p>\n

    The\u00a0<\/span>next<\/span>\u00a0two PLEs emanate from Scotland and Germany. McIntyre and Gunther would\u00a0<\/a><\/span>both<\/span>\u00a0love to challenge for\u00a0<\/span>WWE Raw\u2019s\u00a0<\/span><\/em>biggest prize at these massive European shows.<\/span><\/p>\n

    We will also get our first look at new\u00a0<\/span>WWE Raw\u00a0<\/span><\/em>superstar\u00a0<\/span>Ilja Dragunov<\/span><\/strong><\/a>\u00a0as he faces new WWE Speed Champion\u00a0<\/span>Ricochet<\/span><\/strong>.\u00a0<\/span>Rey Mysterio<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0will face\u00a0<\/span>Kofi Kingston<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0in the other King of the Ring opening round match.<\/span><\/p>\n

    WWE SmackDown stars\u00a0<\/span>LA Knight, Santos Escobar\u00a0<\/span><\/strong>and<\/span> Carmelo Hayes <\/span><\/strong>are also <\/span>in the tournament. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
