web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><strong>Bill Goldberg<\/strong> was announced early this morning via<strong> ESPN<\/strong> as the newest\u00a0addition to the 2018 WWE Hall Of Fame class.\u00a0 The 51-year-old former professional football player becomes the first member to be announced for this year&#8217;s festivities.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_12404\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-12404\" style=\"width: 455px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-12404\" src=\"https:\/\/lwosonprowrestling.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2018\/01\/019_HAVOC_10241999_0110-bd84d319a7061c0ed7f9832917b8d5a6-1024x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"455\" height=\"455\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-12404\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo: WWE<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Goldberg was discovered by <strong>Sting<\/strong> and <strong>Lex Luger<\/strong> as he was rehabbing from a football injury.\u00a0 He debuted in a <strong>World Championship Wrestling<\/strong>, <strong>Monday Night Nitro<\/strong> dark match in June of 1997.\u00a0 What followed would come to be known as &#8220;The Streak&#8221;.\u00a0 Although it is widely believed the number is exaggerated, he is recorded to have had a 173 win streak, capturing the World Heavyweight\u00a0Championship in June of 1998 against <strong>Hollywood Hulk Hogan<\/strong> during that time.\u00a0 His win streak would come to an end at <em><strong>Starrcade\u00a01998<\/strong><\/em> as he would lose to <strong>Kevin Nash<\/strong> thanks to help from <strong>Scott Hall<\/strong> dressed as a ringside security guard.<\/p>\n<figure <em><strong>Starrcade<\/strong><\/em><strong>\u00a0<em>1999<\/em><\/strong><em>, <\/em>Goldberg would challenge <strong>Bret Hart<\/strong> for the World Heavyweight title.\u00a0 During the match, Goldberg hit Hart with a very stiff kick which caused Hart to suffer a concussion\u00a0and neck damage.\u00a0 This is incident is widely regarded as the cause for Bret Hart to retire and even though Hart won the match, he relinquished the title the next night on Nitro.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_12408\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-12408\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-12408\" height=\"335\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-12408\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo: WWE<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Goldberg would debut in WWE in 2003 on the <strong>Monday Night Raw<\/strong> after <em><strong>Wrestlemania 19<\/strong><\/em>.\u00a0 In September of the same year, Goldberg would defeat <strong>Triple H<\/strong> at <em><strong>Unforgiven<\/strong><\/em> in a Career vs. Title match and capture his second World Heavyweight Championship.\u00a0 He would lose it the following December to Triple H in a triple threat match that also involved <strong>Kane<\/strong>.\u00a0 Goldberg would take time off after his <em><strong>Wrestlemania 20<\/strong> <\/em>match vs. <strong>Brock Lesnar<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_12403\" Brock Lesnar.\u00a0 During this time he captured the WWE Universal Championship at the <em><strong>Fastlane<\/strong><\/em> pay-per-view defeating <strong>Kevin Owens<\/strong>.\u00a0 He would lose it less than a month later to Brock Lesnar at <em><strong>Wrestlemania 33<\/strong><\/em>.\u00a0 The next night after Raw went off the air, Goldberg gave a farewell speech to the fans in including the <strong>Adam Sandler<\/strong> movie <em><strong>The Longest Yard<\/strong><\/em>, the WCW based movie <em><strong>Ready To Rumble<\/strong> <\/em>and was a contestant on <em><strong>The
