That champion is none other than The Greatest Man That Ever Lived,\u00a0<strong>Austin Aries<\/strong>. Coming back and immediately winning the gold isn&#8217;t particularly surprising given his recent trajectory. He was coming fresh off\u00a0of a main event run with Impact and a cup of coffee spent with\u00a0<strong>Ring of Honor<\/strong>. Unfortunately, he spent some time at the top of the card on\u00a0<strong>NXT<\/strong> before being put on the cruiserweight roster. While today that might not be a big issue, it was a kiss of death at the time. After quickly climbing the ranks of the division on\u00a0<strong>205 Live<\/strong>, he never was able to take the belt from\u00a0<strong>Neville<\/strong>. His first title shot against the King of the Cruiserweights was at\u00a0<strong>Wrestlemania 33<\/strong>. Sort of. It was actually relegated to the pre-show for the Showcase of the Immortals. On top of the promotions mentioned above, A Double also worked for\u00a0<strong>House of Hardcore<\/strong> and released a book.\u00a0<strong>Food Fight<\/strong> is the story of how Austin Aries went from a mid-west upbringing to one of the most in-demand wrestlers in the world. Along the way, you will read how his plant-based\u00a0lifestyle evolved, hence the title. All of these things have happened in the past two years. He spent the next few years cutting his teeth on the indies before joining ROH. During his first year with the promotion, he became\u00a0<strong>ROH World Champion<\/strong>. Not only was he\u00a0the champion, he defeated the longest reigning champion in ROH history,\u00a0<strong>Samoa Joe<\/strong>. He would later go on to tackle the <strong>ROH Tag Team Championship<\/strong> with <strong>Roderick Strong<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-12150\" src=\"https:\/\/lwosonprowrestling.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2018\/01\/12501964.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"318\" height=\"480\" srcset=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/prowrestling\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2018\/01\/12501964.jpg 318w, https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/prowrestling\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2018\/01\/12501964-199x300.jpg 199w, https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/prowrestling\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2018\/01\/12501964-278x420.jpg 278w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 318px) 100vw, 318px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>While he was capturing titles with ROH, Impact, then known as TNA had a relationship that allowed competitors to work for both companies. Aries debuted at\u00a0<strong>Sacrifice<\/strong> against\u00a0<strong>Christopher Daniels<\/strong>. He would go on to form a stable similar to his stable in ROH with Strong and\u00a0<strong>Alex Shelley<\/strong>. After serving a suspension for arriving late to\u00a0<strong>Against All Odds<\/strong>, Aries redebuted\u00a0as Austin Starr at\u00a0<strong>Bound For Glory<\/strong>. Starr would become a major part of\u00a0<strong>Kevin Nash<\/strong>&#8216;s\u00a0<strong>Paparazzi Productions<\/strong> and the\u00a0<strong>Paparazzi Championship Series<\/strong>. This was a great opportunity for many of the talents of the <strong>X-Division<\/strong> to develop stronger characters. During his second tenure, he became the first man to hold the ROH title more than once. To this day, the only other wrestlers to accomplish that feat have been\u00a0<strong>Jay Briscoe<\/strong> and\u00a0<strong>Adam Cole<\/strong>. His next tenure with ROH would end with Aries joining\u00a0<strong>Dragon Gate USA<\/strong>. He would feud with the likes of <strong>Rich Swann<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Chuck Taylor<\/strong>,\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Johnny Gargano<\/strong>. He would also align with the <strong>Blood Warriors<\/strong>, the heel faction sitting atop the card. Swann, Taylor, and Gargano, collectively known as <strong>Ronin<\/strong>, would faceoff against the Blood Warriors in A Double&#8217;s final match with the company.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_12156\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-12156\" style=\"width: 640px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-12156\" src=\"https:\/\/lwosonprowrestling.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2018\/01\/IMG_7214-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-12156\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo: Impact Wrestling<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Mere days after leaving Dragon Gate USA, Austin Aries made his return to TNA. He immediately entered a feud with old ally and enemy Alex Shelley. This catapulted Aries to the top of the X-Division, leading to his first title with the company. Aries would elevate the X-Division once again during his reign. His 301-day reign saw him take on all comers, even winning matches against\u00a0<strong>Bully Ray<\/strong> and Samoa Joe. In fact, he never actually lost the title. Aries would agree, under one condition. Leading into\u00a0<strong>Destination X<\/strong>, Aries created &#8220;Option C&#8221;. Option C has given every subsequent X-Division champion a yearly opportunity to trade the title in. In his opportunity to capture the <strong>TNA World Heavyweight Championship<\/strong>, Aries would defeat\u00a0<strong>Bobby Roode<\/strong>. Austin Aries would go on to be one of the main players in Impact Wrestling for the few years. He is a six-time X-Division Champion. He also captured the\u00a0<strong>TNA World Tag Team Titles<\/strong> with Bobby Roode. This makes him one of only eight Triple Crown Champions in Impact Wrestling history.<\/p>\n<p>With Impact Wrestling, the Greatest Man That Ever Lived proved that he might be just that. After a less than ideal run with the WWE, fans have seen A Double get back in his groove. Coming back home to the\u00a0<strong>Impact Zone<\/strong> is the smartest move for both Aries and Impact.
