Starting in October 2024, the show <a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2023\/tv\/news\/wwes-smackdown-usa-network-2024-1235730831\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">will be moving to <strong>USA Network<\/strong>, where it aired from 2016 to 2019<\/a>. The deal is rumored to be worth $1.4 billion, which is higher than the $1 billion that Fox paid in 2019. SmackDown is expected to remain on Friday nights following the move.<\/p>\n<p>As a part of the deal, <strong>WWE<\/strong> will also produce four primetime specials for <strong>NBC<\/strong> each year. No additional details on these specials have been released.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, USA Network is currently the home of <em><strong>WWE Raw<\/strong><\/em> and has been the home of Raw for most of its existence. It seems like that could be coming to an end, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/tv\/tv-news\/wwe-smackdown-leaving-fox-usa-network-raw-1235595545\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">according to <em>the Hollywood Reporter<\/em><\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>While the new deal will bring WWE to NBC primetime and SmackDown to USA on Friday nights, it will also mean the end of Raw and NXT on USA.<\/p>\n<p>A source familiar with the Raw discussions tell The Hollywood Reporter that the market for the program is \u201cextremely active,\u201d with traditional linear networks, streaming services and \u201cunexpected players\u201d all interested.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>It remains possible that Raw stays within the NBC Universal family, however. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportsbusinessjournal.com\/Articles\/2023\/09\/21\/wwe-smackdown-returns-to-usa\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The <em>Sports Business Journal<\/em> says <\/a>\u00a0&#8220;<em>NBCU is considered a front-runner to renew its &#8216;Raw&#8217; deal.<\/em>&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Of course, it could end up moving to a different channel or streaming service, either within the NBCU family or elsewhere, and it could even potentially end up on a different day.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s also currently unknown what this could mean for <strong>NXT<\/strong>, which currently airs on USA Network on Tuesdays.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNBCUniversal has been a tremendous partner of WWE for decades,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.businesswire.com\/news\/home\/20230920947679\/en\/SmackDown-Returns-to-USA-Network-as-Part-of-Five-Year-Agreement-Between-WWE-and-NBCUniversal\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">said WWE President <strong>Nick Khan<\/strong> in a press release<\/a>. \u201cWe are excited to extend this longstanding relationship by bringing <i>SmackDown<\/i>\u00a0to USA Network on Friday nights and look forward to debuting multiple WWE special events annually on NBC.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a privilege and thrill to continue NBCU\u2019s decades-long partnership with WWE which has helped cement USA Network\u2019s consistent position as the top-rated cable entertainment network in live viewership\u201d said <strong>Frances Berwick<\/strong>, Chairman, NBCUniversal Entertainment. \u201cWith Friday nights on USA, primetime specials on NBC, and the WWE hub on Peacock, we\u2019ll continue to use the power of our portfolio to super-serve this passionate fanbase.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3>More From LWOS Pro Wrestling<\/h3>\n<p><em><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Stay tuned to the\u00a0<\/span><\/em><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/prowrestling\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_self\"><em><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Last Word on Pro Wrestling<\/span><\/em><\/a><em><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0for more on this and other stories from around the world of wrestling, as they develop.
