Match Point is an ongoing series at Last Word on Pro Wrestling, where we look at intriguing match-ups in indie wrestling and beyond. They may be dream matches, first-time match-ups, or hotly anticipated rematches. Today’s edition will look at the upcoming El Hijo del Vikingo<\/strong> vs Laredo Kid<\/strong> match on April 1 during WrestleMania<\/em> <\/strong>weekend in Los Angeles.<\/p>\n

One of the most popular feuds in AAA Lucha Libre<\/strong> is finally making its way to America and all eyes should definitely<\/em> be on this match, courtesy of Game Changer Wrestling <\/strong>(GCW<\/strong>). This match also being the U.S. in-ring return of Laredo Kid, both men will be wanting to give their best performance on a big stage during a huge weekend for professional wrestling.<\/p>\n

GCW announced Hijo del Vikingo versus Laredo Kid for GCW Gringo Loco’s Wrld on Lucha 2<\/strong> <\/em>later this year as a part of their big “The Collective<\/em>” wrestling extravaganza annual tradition. The match is non-title but that does not mean it is certain to stay that way between now and April 1, as Vikingo’s AAA Mega Championship could easily end up as being on the line.<\/p>\n

Laredo Kid still has a claim to a future championship match as he pinned Vikingo last October to win the AAA Showcenter Tournament<\/em> (you can check that match out on YouTube<\/a>). Historically, these two have wrestled a number of times and their first singles match from 2019 was an incredible<\/em> bout for the AAA Cruiserweight Championship held by Laredo Kid at the time, but this is the first time these two competitors have met in one-on-on action on U.S. soil.<\/p>\n

In all honesty, Hijo del Vikingo vs Laredo Kid is set to be the arguable best match of the GCW The Collective 2023<\/em> weekend. Do not be surprised if we see this match occur again but with the AAA Mega Championship on the line at a big U.S. PPV or indie show, such as GCW or Warrior Wrestling. The eyes of the wrestling world all will be on GCW Gringo Loco’s The Wrld<\/em> on Lucha 2<\/em> next month to see this hotly-anticipated singles match.<\/p>\n
