We saw longtime promotions like <strong>World Wrestling Council (WWC)<\/strong> lose their place in the wrestling scene, young stars being denied their place on top and a Hurricane destroy the little wrestling scene that we have left.<\/p>\n<p>Now, with Puerto Rico slowly gaining momentum and electrical power, it seems that in 2018, the scene in the island will get back up, with promotions like WWC and <strong>World<\/strong> <strong>Wrestling<\/strong> <strong>League<\/strong> planning to comeback in February or early March, and <strong>Championship Wrestling Associtation (CWA)<\/strong> in their best run in history.<\/p>\n<p>The only thing that we have left to wonder is, which wrestler are going to breakthrough in 2018?<\/p>\n<ol start=\"5\">\n<li>\n<h2><strong> Justin Dynamite <\/strong><\/h2>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?sa=t&amp;rct=j&amp;q=&amp;esrc=s&amp;source=web&amp;cd=1&amp;cad=rja&amp;uact=8&amp;ved=0ahUKEwizkcSCm8HYAhXGrFQKHbAUBuEQFggpMAA&amp;url=http%3A%2F%2Flastwordonprowrestling.com%2F2017%2F08%2F03%2Fpuerto-ricos-top-prospect-part-1-justin-dynamite-2%2F&amp;usg=AOvVaw0azX32YEnP4yhBnf6loNqK\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-11774 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/lwosonprowrestling.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2018\/01\/JDynamite-300x300.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/prowrestling\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2018\/01\/JDynamite-300x300.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/prowrestling\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2018\/01\/JDynamite-150x150.jpeg 150w, https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/prowrestling\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2018\/01\/JDynamite.jpeg 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>As we said in his prospect<\/a> report, is not a matter of \u201cif\u201d, but a matter of \u201cwhen\u201d, and it seems that 2018 is going to be his year. With a 365 plus day as CWA Puerto Rican Champion, <strong>Justin Dynamite<\/strong> is poised to make an impact. He and CWA\u2019s supreme champion, <strong>Star<\/strong> <strong>Roger<\/strong>, are the only wrestlers with one-year reigns in the island, and in CWA\u2019s last show, both didn\u2019t seem happy about it. Justin Dynamite is billed as \u201cThe Future\u201d, but as of right now, CWA thinks this year is Justin Dynamite\u2019s moment to take the CWA Heavyweight Championship off Star Roger and stablish himself as the new \u201cace\u201d of the company.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"4\">\n<li>\n<h2><strong> Vanilla Vargas <\/strong><\/h2>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-11770 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/lwosonprowrestling.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2018\/01\/Vargas-200x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/prowrestling\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2018\/01\/Vargas-200x300.jpg 200w, https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/prowrestling\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2018\/01\/Vargas-280x420.jpg 280w, https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/prowrestling\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2018\/01\/Vargas.jpg 512w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px\" \/>In the last half of 2017, <strong>Vanilla<\/strong> <strong>Vargas<\/strong> was everywhere. She was part of this year\u2019s match of the year \u2013 in Puerto Rico \u2013 with her colleagues <strong>Mike<\/strong> <strong>Mendoza<\/strong> and <strong>Angel<\/strong> <strong>Fashion<\/strong> against the former <strong>GFW<\/strong>\/<strong>Impact<\/strong> <strong>Wrestling<\/strong> <strong>Tag<\/strong> <strong>Team<\/strong> <strong>Champions<\/strong>, <strong>LAX<\/strong>, and she participated in promotions like <strong>Aro<\/strong> <strong>Lucha<\/strong> and in <strong>Ultimo<\/strong> <strong>Dragon\u2019s<\/strong> Anniversary in the historic Arena M\u00e9xico. Now, with everybody watching Vanilla\u2019s movements as the next big female wrestler from Puerto Rico, it seems that her international and local calendar will fill up quickly. As of right now, Vanilla is set to compete in Aro Lucha once again, in <strong>The<\/strong> <strong>Crash<\/strong> \u2013 they need female talent \u2013 and in WWL as their top female wrestler.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"3\">\n<li>\n<h2><strong> Angel Fashion <\/strong><\/h2>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-11772 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/lwosonprowrestling.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2018\/01\/AngelPerez-300x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/prowrestling\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2018\/01\/AngelPerez-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/prowrestling\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2018\/01\/AngelPerez-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/prowrestling\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2018\/01\/AngelPerez.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>Angel Fashion is a weird monster. The man doesn\u2019t bring high intensity moves, his promos are regular at best and his presentation left us a lot to be desire, but, he has something that make\u2019s everybody pay attention. Al thought nobody knows why, Angel Fashion is a magnet for claps or for boos. He started badly in 2017 with WWC relegating him to their Jr. Heavyweight division after being almost on top of the card, but he got a second air in WWL. Part of this year in Puerto Rico\u2019s MOTY, Fashion has been able to get out of his comfort zone. Booked in Ohio and almost in The Crash, Fashion started to expand in 2017. Now, with the new year already in place, Fashion is already expanding his knowledge in Florida with <strong>WWE Hall of Famer<\/strong>, <strong>Wild Samoan Afa\u2019s<\/strong> <strong>World<\/strong> <strong>Xtreme<\/strong> <strong>Wrestling<\/strong> and <strong>Pro<\/strong> <strong>Wrestling<\/strong> <strong>2.0<\/strong>. Also, he is poised to participate in <strong>Cleveland Knights Championship Wrestling<\/strong> \u2013 where he is seemed with good eyes \u2013 and to have a match against <strong>AAA<\/strong>\u2019s Latino American Champion, <strong>Hijo del Fantasma<\/strong>. Is still unclear if his coming back to Puerto Rico.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"2\">\n<li>\n<h2><strong> JC Navarro <\/strong><\/h2>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Named 2017\u2019s best wrestling technician in Puerto Rico, <strong>JC Navarro<\/strong> is built like a Pitbull that doesn\u2019t give up that easily. Navarro had a breakout year, especially with his match against Mike Mendoza in <strong>WWL Hight Voltage Live<\/strong> in Juncos. He showed that his time in <strong>Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL)<\/strong> was well received as hi incorporates all kind of holds along with great techniques. Before Hurricane Maria came, Navarro was poised to take by storm the mid card of WWL and win the WWL Latino American Championship. He shattered 2017, with him winning at the start of the year the WWC Puerto Rican Championship, later going to WWL and in the process having the match of the year in Puerto Rico \u2013 Vargas, Mendoza &amp; Fashion vs. LAX \u2013 and its runner up against JC Navarro. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?sa=t&amp;rct=j&amp;q=&amp;esrc=s&amp;source=web&amp;cd=2&amp;cad=rja&amp;uact=8&amp;ved=0ahUKEwim5tqam8HYAhVFlVQKHbpOBNgQFggzMAE&amp;url=http%3A%2F%2Flastwordonprowrestling.com%2F2017%2F10%2F14%2Fmike-mendoza-wwe-tryout%2F&amp;usg=AOvVaw2RuGoAiazkm31QHDp5tlqT\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u00a0He would later participate in a try-out for <strong>WWE<\/strong><\/a> and travel to Ohio to expand himself. It seems that 2018 will be his tipping point to become the best wrestler in the Island. He is going to an excursion trough the Northeast of the United States in January and in February going up against former AAA Mega Champion <strong>Texano Jr.<\/strong> Also, in WWL, it seems that the only thing left for Mendoza do is to capture their Latin American tittle or even better, their WWL Heavyweight Championship.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It was a rocky year for the Puerto Rican wrestling scene.
