An entertainer and larger-than-life character from his days on the football field as a member of the lauded Monsters of the Midway defense for the Chicago Bears to his days as a commentator and later wrestler for World Championship Wrestling<\/strong>, Steve ‘Mongo’ McMichael<\/strong> was always ready for anything. That is until he met an opponent he’d never faced before, ALS. In an emotional piece published in the Chicago Tribune<\/a> in April 2021, Mongo shared this news with the world. In addition to sharing the diagnosis and new realities of life, Mongo officially stepped away from public life. “I want everybody to realize why they’re no longer going to see me around,”<\/em> he said in the Tribune article. Sadly along with ALS, the McMichael family has been struggling financially. Mongo requires full-time care, usually delivered by his loving wife, Misty. Now the wrestling community rallies around one of our own to provide positivity, fun, and hopefully, financial aid. That’s where Money for Mongo<\/strong><\/em> comes in.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
