Earlier this evening, former NXT Women’s and Divas Champion Paige<\/strong> announced her departure from WWE<\/strong>. She made this announcement on Twitter, stating that July 7 would be her final day with the company. “I’m so thankful and I appreciate the opportunities that the company has given me,” said Paige. “I know after my neck injury taking me out of in ring status, it was pretty hard to keep me around for as long as you did and for that I’m thankful too.”<\/p>\n

Paige would go on to mention that her in-ring career may not be finished. “I’m not saying I’ll never be done in the ring. That day will most certainly come again,” she said. “Wherever the return maybe.”<\/p>\n

As a member of a professional wrestling family, Paige is the daughter of Julia and Patrick Bevis<\/strong>, both of whom are retired professional wrestlers. She began her in-ring career at the age of 13, working her way through various promotions and across numerous countries. In September 2011, following a successful tryout, she inked a deal with WWE before reporting to its developmental territory at the time, Florida Championship Wrestling<\/strong><\/a>. However, when WWE later adopted NXT<\/strong> as its new developmental platform, Paige saw increased exposure and success alike.<\/p>\n

From NXT to the main roster, Paige amassed accolades and fame alike. She became the only woman to ever hold the NXT Women’s and Divas Championship titles at the same time. However, multiple injuries, specifically those related to her neck, limited her in-ring career. On Monday Night Raw<\/strong> following WrestleMania 34<\/em><\/strong>, Paige announced her retirement from in-ring competition<\/a>, though she would assume roles such as SmackDown<\/em><\/strong> General Manager and WWE Backstage<\/em><\/strong> contributor in the years that followed.<\/p>\n
