No hard and fast announcements have been made. During his <strong>WWE<\/strong> run, Punk\u2019s finisher initially, was the chokehold maneuver, the Anaconda Vice, which was garnered from his adolescent martial arts background. Punk once extolled the virtues of the Anaconda Vice during his feud with <strong>Alberto Del Rio, <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wwe.com\/shows\/survivorseries\/2011\/punk-anaconda-vise-survivor-series\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">saying<\/a>, \u201cThe Anaconda Vice was my bread and butter when I came to WWE in 2006.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He abandoned the hold for the slightly more complex maneuver \u2018Go to Sleep\u2019. This finisher was invented by KENTA. The fact that Punk adopted his finisher is not lost on KENTA, and he has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=9drP_O4P-g0&amp;t=548s\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">called it out in the past<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>KENTA\u2019s History<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>KENTA\u2019s pro wrestling career began in <strong>All Japan Pro Wrestling<\/strong><em>, <\/em>but he quickly followed former company president <strong>Mitsuhara Misawa<\/strong> to the promotion Misawa founded: <strong>Pro Wrestling NOAH<\/strong><em>.<\/em> As in AJPW, KENTA joined NOAH\u2019s junior heavyweight division. He achieved the GHC Junior Heavyweight championship 3x, and the GHC Heavyweight Championship 1x, among other accolades.<\/p>\n<p>In 2014, KENTA joined World Wrestling Entertainment<em>, <\/em>under the ring name <strong>Hideo Itami. <\/strong>He appeared in <em><strong>NXT<\/strong><\/em> initially and finally <em><strong>205 Live<\/strong> <\/em>before <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/prowrestling\/2019\/01\/30\/hideo-itami-departs-wwe\/\" target=\"_self\">departing WWE<\/a> in 2019. In 2019, he also debuted for <i>NJPW<\/i> at\u00a0<em><strong>Dominion 6.9 in Osaka-jo Hall<\/strong><\/em>, where he announced his entry in 2019\u2019s <em><strong>G1 Climax<\/strong><\/em> tournament. Despite being aligned with the <strong>CHAOS <\/strong>stable, in the closing hours of the tournament, he turned on <strong>Tomohiro Ishii <\/strong>and <strong>YOSHI-HASHI\u00a0<\/strong>and joined <strong>BULLET CLUB. <\/strong><\/p>\n<h3><strong>KENTA in AEW<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>In early 2021, KENTA <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/prowrestling\/2021\/02\/03\/kenta-jon-moxley-aew-dynamite\/\" target=\"_self\">appeared on <strong><em>AEW Dynamite<\/em><\/strong><\/a>. KENTA attacked <strong>Jon Moxley, <\/strong>payback for Moxley\u2019s previous attack on <em><strong>NJPW Strong<\/strong>.<\/em> KENTA was then in contention for the IWGP United States Heavyweight Championship held by Moxley. CM Punk debuted for AEW in August 2021. The two have not crossed paths since Punk\u2019s run at AEW has begun, but that may change at <em>Forbidden Door.<\/em><\/p>\n<h3><strong>CM Punk vs KENTA at Forbidden Door &#8211; In Conclusion<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>AEW rarely shies away from a dream match, especially one that has been years in the making. Punk and KENTA missed each other by years in WWE, and have not crossed paths in AEW as of yet, either. The announcement of <em>Forbidden Door<\/em> immediately called to mind the specter of their long-distance rivalry for many, and KENTA has responded with hints that the match may come to fruition.
