Rhodes recovered his debonair mien in banter with the hosts, naming <em>The Bump <\/em>as his second favorite show on streamer Peacock. The first? Reruns of <em>The Office.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The lighthearted atmosphere was soon dispersed by Camp, who asked Rhodes why now, <em>WrestleMania 38<\/em> was the time he chose to return to WWE. Calling her \u201cthe Cinderella in his story\u201d, Rhodes didn\u2019t give any clues as to what his wife\u2019s next move in the pro wrestling industry would be, but professed that he\u2019d be there for her, as she had been there for him. Although candid moments backstage at <em>WrestleMania 38<\/em> have been shared via social media, Rhodes shared a moment that went unrecorded to Camp, Braxton, and Pappolla. \u201cIf it,\u201d (his WWE return at <em>WrestleMania 38<\/em>) \u201cgoes awry, go back to the bus,\u201d he reportedly told his wife, fearing that he, himself, would underperform after 48 days between his last AEW match and his WWE return, or that he would be perceived as \u201cthe enemy\u201d to the WWE Universe.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI broke the throne,\u201d Rhodes admitted, conceding that his role in AEW, \u201ccaused a disturbance.\u201d Yet, fans welcomed him back with a resoundingly positive response, as the social media reactions to his match versus <strong>Seth Rollins, <\/strong>which the hosts unrolled for Rhodes to view, evidenced.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>The Rhodes vs. Rollins Rivalry:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Speaking on Rollins, Rhodes revealed that the emotional subtext between the two rivals run deep, and back to Rhodes legendary father, <strong>\u201cThe American Dream\u201d Dusty Rhodes. <\/strong>Before his death, Dusty Rhodes presided over developing WWE\u2019s fresh talent at <em><strong>NXT<\/strong>.<\/em> The graduates of that brand during his tenure are known, to Cody Rhodes\u2019s chagrin, as \u201cDusty\u2019s kids.\u201d Rollins was presented with the NXT Championship by Rhodes\u2019s father. Rhodes stated that, aside from \u201cthe tattoo on his neck\u201d , if he could speak to his father now what the elder Rhodes would most have gotten a kick out of about his WWE return is that he fought one of his star pupils. Rhodes said that he and Rollins were both in their \u201cfinal form\u201d. Though they have crossed paths in WWE before, \u201cthe two men who were there on Saturday have not,\u201d Rhodes said, adding that the match represented to him, \u201ctwo guys in the prime of their career going for it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Although the rivalry between the two, Rollins and Rhodes, <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/prowrestling\/2022\/04\/04\/cody-rhodes-vs-seth-rollins\/\" target=\"_self\">will surely continue<\/a>, he named other names in the WWE Universe as possible opponents in the future.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Roman Reigns and Drew McIntyre:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Of former tag team partner <strong>Drew McIntyre, <\/strong>Rhodes didn\u2019t hold back any punches, saying, McIntyre had, \u201ca chip on his shoulder,\u201d because his \u201chottest moment came in front of nobody,\u201d referencing McIntyre\u2019s WWE Championship wins in the ThunderDome at Amway Center, when WWE ceased live shows out of deference to the global pandemic. Rhodes claimed that as former partners, he has \u201caccess\u201d to McIntyre\u2019s moveset, including his iconic Claymore kick. However, he also praised McIntyre\u2019s abilities as a heavyweight wrestler.<\/p>\n<p>Of Reigns, the newly minted WWE Undisputed Universal Champion, Rhodes said that he witnessed Reigns handle a lot of negativity during his time at the top of WWE, but, \u201cConsistency is what makes a champion a champion,\u201d and Reigns\u2019s consistency had earned him his place. Rhodes <a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2022\/tv\/news\/cody-rhodes-wwe-wrestlemania-38-interview-1235221061\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">told <em>Variety<\/em><\/a>, and reiterated on <em>The Bump<\/em>, of an incident from his father\u2019s life that has set the tone for his own goals. In 1977, Dusty Rhodes fought <strong>\u201cSuperstar\u201d Billy Graham <\/strong>at\u00a0 Madison Square Garden for the WWWF Championship, but did not claim it because of a match stipulation. \u201cI understand that now as an adult, but as a kid, that was the only reason I ever wanted to get in, so that I could get what he didn\u2019t get,\u201d Rhodes said to <em>Variety<\/em>. He reiterated at <em>The Bump, <\/em>\u201cI\u2019m sorry, Dad, that I didn\u2019t get it done.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Cody Rhodes on The Bump &#8211; In Conclusion:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Despite multiple tag team and Intercontinental title reigns, Rhodes has never held a WWE world title. Winning the new, unified title currently held by Reigns would be the fruition of a long held dream.
