{"id":109895,"date":"2022-02-12T14:00:45","date_gmt":"2022-02-12T19:00:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/prowrestling\/?p=109895"},"modified":"2022-02-12T10:15:02","modified_gmt":"2022-02-12T15:15:02","slug":"top-5-joshi-matches-of-the-month-january-2022","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/prowrestling\/2022\/02\/12\/top-5-joshi-matches-of-the-month-january-2022\/","title":{"rendered":"Top 5 Joshi Matches of The Month (January 2022)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Joshi wrestling scene (Japanese Women\u2019s Wrestling) is a deep scene full of insanely talented performers and every month there are dozens of fantastic matches from promotions from\u00a0<strong>Stardom\u00a0<\/strong>to\u00a0<strong>PURE-J\u00a0<\/strong>and everywhere in between.\u00a0 In this article, we aim to give readers a list of recommended Joshi matches that took place in the last month, there will be some honorable mentions and then a top 5 featuring our absolute favorites!\u00a0 This edition focuses on January 2022<\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-6\">\n<div id=\"avantis-player\"><strong>Important Note:\u00a0<\/strong>Due to some matches not airing as of the time of writing some presumably great Joshi matches can\u2019t be ranked.\u00a0 Also due to the recent\u00a0<strong>PPV Model\u00a0<\/strong>adopted by a number of promotions we are unable to see every event.<\/div>\n<div>\n<h2>Recommended Joshi Matches January 2021<\/h2>\n<div><strong>Honorable Mentions<\/strong><\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>Mayu Iwatani vs Giulia (currently 9+ on Cagematch)<\/li>\n<li>SAKI &amp; Hikari Shimizu vs Miyuki Takase &amp; Haruka Umesaki<\/li>\n<li>SAKI &amp; Hikari Shimizu vs Takumi Iroha &amp; Nagisa Nozaki<\/li>\n<li>Takumi Iroha vs Chihiro Hashimoto<\/li>\n<li>Miyuki Takase vs Yurika Oka (Available on the Sendai Girls YouTube page)<\/li>\n<li>Giulia, MIRAI &amp; Thekla vs Unagi Sayaka, Tam Nakano &amp; Mai Sakurai<\/li>\n<li>DASH Chisako vs ASUKA (Available on the Sendai Girls YouTube page)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>5. ASUKA vs Mika Iwata<\/h3>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"\u3010\u304f\u3058\u5f15\u304d\u30de\u30c3\u30c1\u3011\u5ca9\u7530\u7f8e\u9999vs\u6731\u5d07\u82b1\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/3JpxjdsUNbE?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>January 2022 was a ridiculous month in Joshi, competition for the top 5, and even the top 3 was fierce but we are kicking off our top 5 with this all out sprint from Sendai Girls.\u00a0 Mika Iwata continues to grow and evolve her game but she came up against ASUKA who is one of the best in the world.\u00a0 This match will play to the tastes of anyone that likes action-packed matches with no wasted motion.<\/p>\n<h3>4. Syuri &amp; Giulia vs Hazuki &amp; Koguma<\/h3>\n<p>ALK had their first tag match in months against the new team on the block, FWC.\u00a0 As is standard for ALK they do not miss in tag title matches, especially opposite Koguma who plays off Giulia really well. Adding in two wrestlers as talented as Hazuki and Syuri to that building block was always going to be a recipe for excellence.\u00a0 The only drawback to this one is that they&#8217;ve got an even better match in them that we&#8217;ll have to see some day down the line.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h3>3. Tsukushi Haruka vs Ibuki Hoshi<\/h3>\n<p>We&#8217;ll be up front with you, this top 3 is pretty interchangeable.\u00a0 Every single match is worth your time and they&#8217;re all on a similar level quality-wise.\u00a0 With that out of the way we jump into Ice Ribbon showcasing future star Ibuki Hoshi in a title match with Tsukushi Haruka.\u00a0 This match was the definition of fighting spirit, Haruka is renowned in the Joshi scene for her hard-hitting nature and that was on full display in this match.\u00a0 Ibuki Hoshi was more than willing to meet Haruka&#8217;s violence with an onslaught of chops of her own to the point that this really embodied a battle.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Note:<\/strong> Ice Ribbon have launched a membership on their YouTube channel.\u00a0 Subscribe and join their channel to watch this match and many other Ice Ribbon shows.<\/p>\n<h3>2. MIRAI vs Syuri<\/h3>\n<p>In one night Stardom managed to present MIRAI as a future top star as she battled Syuri for the World of Stardom Championship.\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/prowrestling\/2022\/01\/17\/stardom-nagoya-supreme-fight\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_self\">Nagoya Supreme Fight<\/a> was the stage of the bout as veteran world champion Syuri was pushed hard by the Stardom newcomer.\u00a0 MIRAI got to showcase everything she was capable of as Syuri stood back and allowed MIRAI to take center stage, once that was done Syuri swiftly puy MIRAI down without mercy in typical Syuri fashion.\u00a0 Not only was this well wrestled but it served the purpose of building up MIRAI too.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Link To Watch:\u00a0<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.stardom-world.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Stardom World<\/a><\/p>\n<h3>1. Mizuki vs Miyu Yamashita<\/h3>\n<p>This was quite possibly the best match TJPW has ever produced, in fact, I even wrote about that for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.voicesofwrestling.com\/2022\/01\/10\/tjpws-masterpiece-miyu-yamashita-vs-mizuki\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Voices of Wrestling<\/a>. Miyu Yamashita has been nothing short of excellence since regaining the Princess of Princess Championship.\u00a0 Her strikes are as crisp as ever while she continues to evolve and change her game over time to combat new challengers.\u00a0 Mizuki is one of the best wrestlers in TJPW, originally trained by LLPW-X, she lives up to the Magical Sugar Rabbit brand with her energetic in-ring style.
