On the recent episode of NJPW Strong<\/strong>, which was the last part of Detonation<\/em> tapings, Team Filthy<\/strong> won all its\u2019 matches in one fell swoop. JR Kratos, Royce Isaacs,<\/strong> and the newest incarnation of legendary Black Tiger<\/strong> defeated the team FinJuice<\/strong> and Rocky Romero. <\/strong>In the main event of the Detonation<\/em> taping, Filthy Tom Lawlor<\/strong> successfully defended his NJPW Strong Openweight Title against Fred Rosser.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Serving as a rematch for their previous encounter at Autumn Attack 2021<\/em> it was also Lawlor\u2019s sixth title defense. The leader of Team Filthy emerged victorious after 24 minutes of action. He defeated Rosser in true MMA fashion with a Rare-Naked choke. The match itself was a physical affair. Neither participant hesitated in taking it to ringside, and even into the crowd. It\u2019s worth noticing that there was no interference from Lawlor\u2019s teammates.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Tom Lawlor Defends Title At Detonation – Taylor Rust Confronts Team Filthy<\/h2>\n

After the match, Lawlor embraced in a group hug with his compatriots and took the microphone to praise himself for successful title defense and challenged anyone to a title fight. It looked like there\u2019s no one to answer the Filthy One\u2019s challenge when Taylor Rust<\/strong> appeared on stage. The former member of Team Filthy entered the ring and hugged Lawlor, only to attack him after a few seconds. He left the ring before facing the wrath of former colleagues.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Lawlor is the first and only NJPW Strong Openweight Champion. He became the champion after winning New Japan Cup USA 2021 by beating Brody King<\/strong> in April. In the following months, he has defeated a wide variety of challengers such as Chris Dickinson, Karl Fredericks, Satoshi Kojima, Lio Rush,<\/strong> Ren Narita,<\/strong> and the aforementioned Fred Rosser. With his title reign lasting over 240 days, it\u2019s safe to say that Filthy Tom Lawlor is not leaving the top of NJPW Strong hierarchy any time soon.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
