Both men had a strong showing with Danielson defeating “The Natural” Dustin Rhodes in a show-stealing opener this past Saturday night AEW Dynamite. On the same night, Kingston would pull out the win by being a savvy veteran after Lance Archer hit an errant moonsault; afterward, Kingston seized the opportunity to roll him up for the win. Danielson, fueled by his intensity, had some very strong words for Kingston.

Kingston stated that he’s in it to win it. He considers the AEW World Championship as the most prestigious title in the world and he would go through hell and back to come away with it. Kingston has never been world champion and it eats him up that this accolade eludes him. Kingston feels like the time is now for him to finally win the big one. This impassioned speech met criticism courtesy of Danielson. “The American Dragon” stated that if Kingston wanted it half as much as he said he did, he’d be world champion by now. However, Danielson said he didn’t put in the work. And, getting ready for this one sole match wouldn’t undo 20 years of supposed coasting that Eddie has done.

Kingston took exception to this and had a look of disdain as he walked away. Tensions are already high even before these two have gone toe to toe in the ring. Who will advance in this AEW World Title Eliminator Tournament? Will it be Bryan Danielson, who’s shown everybody that “The American Dragon” has indeed risen back from the ashes, or will it be Eddie Kingston, who’s willing to put it all on the line for the possibility of a dream come true? Find out as Danielson vs Kingston unfolds.

Mentor vs Student

Lio Rush was supposed to make his in-ring Rampage debut this Friday night in tag team action with Dante Martin against the Sydal Brothers. Unfortunately, due to injury, Mike Sydal will not be able to compete alongside his brother. Thus, Tony Khan made it official that fans will indeed get a third matchup between the young upstart Martin and his once mentor, Matt Sydal. Rush will be at ringside to oversee the proceedings unfold fully behind Martin. Rush claimed that if Martin follows him, he’ll be victorious. As opposed to Sydal putting Martin under his wing, Rush will actually teach the student and not beat him up.

Those are strong words from Rush; he expects results from Martin now what he is under “The Man of the Hour’s” tutelage. Matt Sydal might just have something to say, and do, about that come this Friday night. Will Rush’s way pan out for one-half of Top Flight, or will Sydal prove that Martin made allegiance with the wrong person?

Stay tuned to the Last Word on Pro Wrestling for more on this and other stories from around the world of wrestling, as they develop.
