{"id":10281,"date":"2017-12-03T22:47:30","date_gmt":"2017-12-04T03:47:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lwosonprowrestling.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/?p=10281"},"modified":"2017-12-03T22:47:30","modified_gmt":"2017-12-04T03:47:30","slug":"jessicka-havok-crowned-first-aaw-womens-champion","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/prowrestling\/2017\/12\/03\/jessicka-havok-crowned-first-aaw-womens-champion\/","title":{"rendered":"Jessicka Havok Crowned First AAW Women&#8217;s Champion"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Last night at AAW&#8217;s Legacy event in Lasalle, Illinois, long time indie veteran Jessicka Havok was crowned the inaugural AAW Women&#8217;s Champion following a months long tournament to determine the first woman to hold the newest title for AAW.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">The winner of the tournament and NEW AAW WOMEN\u2019S CHAMPION Jessicka Havok! <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/AAWLEGACY?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">#AAWLEGACY<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/yvdE0VxKVO\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">pic.twitter.com\/yvdE0VxKVO<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; AAW Wrestling (@AAWPro) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/AAWPro\/status\/937176833338077184?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">December 3, 2017<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>The tournament was first announced in July of this year and featured twelve women competing for the gold, that also featured <strong>Allysin Kay<\/strong> (aka <strong>Impact Wrestling<\/strong>&#8216;s <strong>Sienna<\/strong>), <strong>Britt Baker, Candice LeRae, Delilah Doom, Ivelisse, Kylie Rae, Leah Vaughn, Rachael Ellering, Samantha Heights, Su Yung<\/strong>, and <strong>Veda Scott<\/strong>. Jessica Havok defeated Vaughn in her first round match-up in August, then Candice LeRae in her semi-final match, before facing Ivelisse and Rachael Ellering in the Triple Threat Finals.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Preview of the Women&#039;s Championship Tournament Finals - AAW Pro\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/YL4NB2Df-fo?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Over ten years on the indie circuit, Havok got her start with <strong>Main Event Championship Wrestling (MECW)<\/strong> out of Ohio back in 2005 and by 2009 was also working for <strong>Women Superstars Uncensored (WSU)<\/strong> and Ohio&#8217;s <strong>Absolute Intense Wrestling (AIW)<\/strong>. By 2013, she was a featured regular with <strong>SHIMMER, SHINE<\/strong> and <strong>AAW<\/strong> as well, and was a 2x WSU World Champion and AIW Women&#8217;s Champion.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-10284\" src=\"https:\/\/lwosonprowrestling.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2017\/12\/cb724b1b5658c79a5f2cae569441da43-wrestling-divas-wrestling-news-e1512359042933.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"600\"><\/p>\n<p>In 2014 she joined <strong>TNA<\/strong> and <strong>Impact Wrestling<\/strong>, becoming the #1 Contender for the Knockouts title in her debut, by winning a Battle Royal against <strong>Angelina Love, Santana Garrett<\/strong> (then known as <strong>Brittany<\/strong>), <strong>Velvet Sky, Madison Rayne, Taryn Terrell<\/strong> and <strong>Rebel<\/strong>. The following month, she defeated <strong>Gail Kim<\/strong> to win the Knockouts title. She lost her title to Terrell late in the year but their feud was interrupted by a returning <strong>Awesome Kong<\/strong> and Havok briefly turned her attention to Kong. But after a loss to Kong in February, Havok disappeared off Impact for months and was finally released in the summer of 2015. She was given a WWE tryout shortly after, but after Wrestling Observer Newsletter and online fans discovered all tweets that were deemed &#8220;homophobic and racist&#8221;, she was never offered a WWE contract.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Gail Kim vs. Havok for the Knockouts Championship (Oct. 1, 2014)\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/AXIVQ0XXrbw?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>She returned to the indies, working with <strong>Ring of Honor<\/strong> in 2016, as well as <strong>House of Hardcore<\/strong>, and entering the UK scene, with <strong>Southside Wrestling Entertainment (SWE)<\/strong> and <strong>Fight Club: PRO<\/strong>. This past year saw her make her debut with <strong>Stardom<\/strong> in Japan, as well as <strong>Glory Pro<\/strong> and <strong>IWA Mid South<\/strong>. But with her wrestling career fully back on track and making waves globally once again, raising the AAW Women&#8217;s Champion is a great story of redemption and a rise to prominence for one of women&#8217;s indie wrestling pioneers, whose last taste of championship gold was the Knockouts title in 2014, over three years ago. Things are looking up for a great 2018 for Jessicka Havok.
