This week’s edition of AEW Dark: Elevation<\/strong> saw the All Elite Wrestling<\/strong> debut of Crowbar<\/strong><\/a>. The former World Championship Wrestling<\/strong> Hardcore, Cruiserweight, and World Tag Team Champion took on “The Bad Boy” Joey Janela<\/strong>. Despite this, it was a memorable encounter for a number of reasons. In addition to being the debut of Crowbar, this match saw the first-ever AEW appearance of The Blue Meanie<\/strong>. Longtime wrestling fans will best know “Da Blue Guy” for his work in Extreme Championship Wrestling<\/strong> and World Wrestling Entertainment<\/strong>. He made his entrance on Crowbar’s behalf as Janela attempted to make his way back to the back. Here’s what to know about The Blue Meanie following AEW Dark: Elevation.<\/p>\n

What to Know About The Blue Meanie<\/strong><\/h3>\n

In early 1994, the man who would become The Blue Meanie began training under future fellow ECW alumni Sabu<\/strong> and Al Snow<\/strong>. Global Wrestling Alliance<\/strong> and Steel City Wrestling<\/strong> were just a few of the independent organizations he worked for, wrestling under aliases including The Zebra Kid<\/strong> and Brian Rollins<\/strong>. However, it was in 1995 when he received his first big break in ECW. Undergoing a character change as The Blue Meanie, he was paired off with Stevie Richards<\/strong>, becoming his sidekick. The two became synonymous with Nova<\/strong>, the future Simon Dean<\/strong> of WWE, as the trio performed a variety of comedy skits. Their most notable was the Blue World Order<\/strong>, a takeoff of WCW’s New World Order<\/strong>, where each member spoofed an nWo member. In Meanie’s case, he parodied Scott Hall<\/strong> as “Da Blue Guy.”<\/p>\n

The Blue Meanie’s comedic antics continued when he joined the WWF in 1998. He was part of many unions in the company, including The J.O.B. Squad<\/strong>, which featured names including Snow and Duane Gill<\/strong>, as well as alongside Goldust<\/strong> as “Bluedust.” Despite winning titles in neither ECW nor the WWF, Meanie became a notable character in his own right. Years later, in 2005, WWE held the first-ever ECW One Night Stand<\/em><\/strong><\/a> event. Meanie was part of the show, alongside his bWo teammates, interfering in the tag team match between The Dudley Boyz<\/strong> and Tommy Dreamer<\/strong> and Sandman<\/strong>. He was also involved in the brawl between ECW and WWE stars near the end of the event, where he was infamously injured by John Bradshaw Layfield<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

To this day, The Blue Meanie remains active in independent wrestling. In 2021 alone, he made multiple appearances for Major League Wrestling<\/strong> in multi-man matches. Currently, he is a professional wrestling trainer for The Monster Factory<\/strong>, based in Paulsboro, New Jersey. The school produced a number of notable wrestlers. These include, but aren’t limited to, current WWE stars Sheamus<\/strong>, Riddle<\/strong>, and Damian Priest<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
