3 Massive Return Angles WWE Could Use for Drew McIntyre

At WrestleMania 42: Night One, Drew McIntyre lost to Jacob Fatu in an Unsanctioned match. The Scottish Warrior has not been seen on WWE TV since the grueling bout. Media outlets suggest that McIntyre has outside commitments to film projects that have kept him off television.

The multiple-time World Champion is one of WWE’s most gifted performers. He has proven himself to be a reliable main eventer who deserves to be in the spotlight. There appears to be no definitive timeline for his return, but fans will be hoping he returns as soon as possible.

McIntyre’s absence has left a major void on WWE TV. It will be intriguing to see how his eventual return to programming unfolds. On that note, let’s look at 3 ways Drew McIntyre could return to WWE.

#3. Roman Reigns Recruits Drew McIntyre to Take Down Jacob Fatu

We start the list with an unlikely, but extremely intriguing scenario. Roman Reigns is currently embroiled in a deeply personal and complicated feud with Jacob Fatu. As mentioned previously, Fatu conquered McIntyre at Mania. However, the Scottish Warrior may not be finished with the Samoan Werewolf.

If it weren’t for Fatu, McIntyre might still be WWE Champion. While he couldn’t get the job done at Mania, things could be different if he joined forces with an unlikely ally in Reigns. Thus far, the OTC has been unable to tame the Samoan Werewolf. He survived Fatu at Backlash, but has been on the receiving end of brutal assaults in the last few weeks.

Furthermore, the Usos have also been ineffective in controlling Fatu. Nonetheless, history has shown that Reigns always comes out on top. The OTC could formulate a master plan to bring his younger cousin in line. McIntyre has long seen the Bloodline as his enemy, but he might find more value in making the family his friend.

Therefore, in exchange for certain favors, Roman Reigns could recruit Drew McIntyre to take down Fatu and force the Samoan Werewolf to acknowledge him. If WWE plays this intelligently, this angle could also be used to revive McIntyre’s Bloodline hunter gimmick.

#2. McIntyre Answers Oba Femi’s Open Challenge

Oba Femi might be the best thing in WWE today. The Ruler has the fans in the palm of his hand. Following a convincing win over Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 42, Femi launched the “Oba Femi Open Challenge.” The former NXT Champion has made quick work of Los Garza, Otis, and Grayson Waller in recent weeks.

Over the next few weeks, we can expect his dominance to continue. However, sooner rather than later, a worthy and credible challenger could accept the Ruler’s open challenge. Drew McIntyre would be a fun challenge for Femi. The Scottish Warrior is one of the few men in WWE who could rival Femi in size, strength, and athleticism.

Naturally, if WWE books a feud between McIntyre and Femi, it should be built up over time. The rivalry could begin with the Scottish Warrior accepting Femi’s open challenge.

#1. The Scottish Warrior Pursues Cody Rhodes

Before he fully turned his attention to Jacob Fatu, Drew McIntyre was embroiled in a heated WWE Championship feud with Cody Rhodes. McIntyre won the title on SmackDown in Berlin, but dropped it back to Rhodes on the March 6th edition of SmackDown.

Rhodes moved on to a feud with Randy Orton, while McIntyre took issue with Fatu’s interference. We are well aware of McIntyre’s crybaby attitude, and he likely has not forgotten his title loss to the American Nightmare. Thus, fans shouldn’t be surprised if the Scottish Warrior goes after Rhodes yet again.

Another title feud between Cody Rhodes and Drew McIntyre is likely, but WWE would have to find a way of making it more interesting. Nonetheless, given the chemistry they have together, it is a program worth pursuing.
