Preview: WWE SmackDown (8/26/22) – Second Chance for Women’s Tag Teams

Second Chance Women's Fatal Four Way Tag

SmackDown is here once more! With just over one week to go before the WWE‘s Clash at the Castle stadium show event in Cardiff, Wales, tonight’s episode of SmackDown (and next week’s episode, which will also be filmed tonight) is set to put the finishing touches on the feuds set to culminate at next week’s event. We have a couple of matches, as well as some speculation, to get to in this preview, so let’s dive right in.

Second Chance Fatal Four Way Tag Team Match: Dana Brooke & Tamina vs. Shotzi & Xia Li vs. Nikki A.S.H. & Doudrop vs. Natalya & Sonya Deville

The big match announced for tonight’s episode of SmackDown is a fatal four-way, women’s tag team bout being dubbed a “second chance” match. Of course, since Triple H assumed power last month, there has been a women’s tag team tournament underway to crown new WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions since the former holders, Sasha Banks & Naomi, are currently maybe or maybe not signed with the WWE. Additionally, Toxic Attraction member Gigi Dolin was injured recently, hence this glaring opportunity for one of these teams to take their place. This is a chance for the likes of Dana Brooke & Tamina, Shotzi and Xia Li, Nikki A.S.H. & Doudrop and Natalya & Sonya Deville to cement their spot in the tournament and cause an unlikely upset. Raquel & Aliyah will meet the winner of the match in the next round. Tune in to tonight’s episode of SmackDown to find out which team makes their way back into the tournament.

Ricochet vs. Happy Corbin

Ricochet and Happy Corbin appear to be on a collision course. In last week’s fatal five-way to crown the number one contender to face Gunther at Clash at the Castle (Sheamus won, for those unaware), Ricochet and Happy Corbin repeatedly targeted each other, ultimately costing both men the opportunity. Since then, Riochet has been “dropped” by Happy Corbin in the form of a cheap shot and now, tonight, they will meet in the ring in an attempt to settle their quarrels. May the best man win.

Not Announced But Expected for WWE SmackDown

Sami Zayn saved Tribal Chief, Roman Reigns, from one Claymore Kick last week. However, Drew McIntyre managed to succeed in a second Claymore Kick and you can expect poor Sami to be on the receiving end of the blame game by The Bloodline. Sami is one of the best things in all of professional wrestling right now and this feels like the beginnings of a big babyface turn in the future. Expect some early seeds to be planted here. Oh, Roman and Drew also have Karrion Kross lurking in the shadows.

Sheamus is all set to face Gunther at Clash at the Castle (seriously, this match will be great) and you can probably expect Sheamus to assume the face role in this feud. Tonight will likely begin that process.

– Expect Liv Morgan to continue her rivalry with Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler.
