In one of the featured matches of All Elite Wrestling’s Battle of the Belts II event, Sammy Guevara challenged Scorpio Sky for the TNT Championship. This match was the latest development in Guevara and girlfriend Tay Conti’s feud with Sky and American Top Team, the latter led by Dan Lambert. Since originally losing the title to Sky this past March on AEW Dynamite, “The Spanish God” has been looking to regain the gold. This led to their latest encounter at AEW Battle of the Belts II, which saw interference from multiple individuals. Ultimately, Sammy Guevara won the match, and his third TNT Championship, though it was under dubious circumstances.
Throughout the match, various parties interfered. These included Conti and Paige VanZant, both of whom brawled at ringside. Lambert and Sky’s tag team partner, Ethan Page, were also involved in the match. The finish of the match saw Guevara hit Sky with a low blow, much to the chagrin of the crowd in attendance. In fact, even during his entrance, Guevara seemed to receive a negative crowd reaction. Time will tell how this will develop on AEW programming.

Sammy Guevara Captures Third TNT Championship
What to Know Following Spanish God’s Latest Title Victory
With this victory, Sammy Guevara is only one of two men to have held the TNT Championship on three occasions; the other was Cody Rhodes, who won the title twice in 2020 and once last year. This seems fitting given that Guevara was Rhodes’s final major AEW program before his departure to WWE. The two exchanged TNT title victories throughout the winter, their bouts including a highly-regarded Ladder Match at AEW Beach Break this past January.
