#AndNEW: American Wolves Win Revolver Tag Team Titles in First Match Since 2017

American Wolves are Back!

American Wolves – the multi-time tag team champions in multiple promotions featuring Eddie Edwards and Davey Richards – reunited for their first match together since 2017 on Saturday night at Wrestling Revolver‘s Tales From The Ring, and the reunited Wolves shocked the crowd by defeating Infrared (Logan James & Tyler Matrix) to become the new Wrestling Revolver Tag Team Champions. Following their win, Richards turned on the crowd and declared they won tonight for no one but themselves, as no one else believed in them in the beginning or when it mattered. Richards also mentioned that he was most interested in facing off against the reunited Switchblade Conspiracy team of Jon Moxley and Sami Callihan. The latter team was supposed to reunite at Saturday’s show, but an ankle injury to Callihan at IMPACT Wrestling tapings changed their match to a return to the 2010 blood feud of Moxley and Jimmy Jacobs from Dragon Gate USA.

From 2008 to 2017, American Wolves were one of the most dominant tag teams in the U.S. indie scene, becoming 5x IMPACT World Tag Team Champions and 2x Ring of Honor World Tag Team Champions, competing against such iconic tag teams as The Young Bucks, World’s Greatest Tag Team (Shelton Benjamin & Charlie Haas), Christopher Daniels & Frankie Kazarian, Forever Hooligans (Rocky Romero & Alex Koslov), reDRagon (Kyle O’Reilly & Bobby Fish), EYFBO (Santana & Ortiz), The Briscoes, The Broken Hardys, Moustache Mountain (Trent Severn & Tyler Bate). John Silver & Alex Reynolds, Super Smash Bros. (Evil Uno & Stu Grayson)…you get the point.

Outside of their influential tag team career, they’ve also both had great success as singles competitors. Edwards is a former 2x IMPACT World Champion, GHC (NOAH) Heavyweight Champion, ROH World Champion, and 2x IMPACT X-Division Champion, while Richards is a former ROH World Champion, Combat Zone Wrestling (CZW) World Heavyweight Champion, Pro Wrestling Guerilla (PWG) World Champion, and DEFY Champion. While Edwards has been a consistent main eventer with IMPACT Wrestling the past few years, Richards has only just recently returned to pro wrestling after a three-year sabbatical, competing for Major League Wrestling (MLW), PWG, Beyond Wrestling, Warrior Wrestling, and various other indies since he came back this past June.

This past Saturday was the first time the Wolves had paired back up since January 29, 2017, when they defeated All Elite Wrestling’s Santana & Ortiz (then called EYFBO) at Beyond Wrestling’s Paying Paul. It appears that the Wolves are indeed back, as Edwards told the Revolver audience that “the hunt is on” after winning another set of tag titles. SPOILER ALERT: At the end of the show, following Moxley’s defeat of Jacobs, Moxley accepted the challenge of the Wolves and was joined by Sami Callihan (sans leg cast), who reiterated that Mox and Callihan would indeed throw down once Callihan was cleared to wrestle.
