Over the past weeks the future of Kairi Sane has been a hot topic amongst fans and insiders alike with no one really having a definitive answer, this was kicked off by Fightful describing her situation as “complicated”. The most recent edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter further fuels this belief.
WON reports that Sane is returning to Japan to be with her husband whom she recently married. Despite this, they also mentioned that she is medically cleared and scheduled to appear on upcoming RAW tapings. Finally, they note that Sane plans to have a one-year retirement tour in Japan before retiring at 32, making her much older than most Stardom women when they retire.
One thing that’s clear is Sane’s in-ring career is coming to an end as recent reports were that she was set to become a WWE Ambassador in Japan, which would mean she would step away from the ring. The report from Dave Meltzer also indicates her career will be over soon. The main sticking point is whether that will be with WWE or not as no one seems to know her contract status.
Sane returning to Japan for a retirement tour would be a treat as the Stardom roster has so many new faces for her to compete with. Stardom has also had a tough year losing three of it’s biggest stars in Kagetsu, Arisa Hoshiki, and Hana Kimura so having Sane around would be a big boost for the company as it builds up some new stars. She also might pop up in SEAdLINNNG which is run by Nanae Takahashi, an old foe and tag partner of Sane’s from Stardom.
