Jon Moxley Heading to GCW for Josh Barnett’s Bloodsport 2 (VIDEO)

On Monday night, Game Changer Wrestling (GCW) made a huge announcement of the first talent signed for Josh Barnett’s Bloodsport 2. The third Bloodsport in the series (the first one was presented by Matt Riddle), it’s become a great event that features some of the wrestling world’s premier strikers, catch wrestlers and MMA fighters in a shoot-style environment. It was revealed on GCW’s Twitter on Monday night that the host, former UFC Heavyweight Champion Josh Barnett, will be facing off against Jon Moxley this September 14 in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Like past Bloodsport events, this will be available live on PPV on Fite.tv.

Fans have been clamoring for Jon Moxley (formerly WWE Superstar Dean Ambrose) to return to more of a hardcore promotion, based on his success in Combat Zone Wrestling (CZW) prior to signing with WWE in 2011. With Moxley now confirmed for GCW’s event in September, and facing a true heavy-hitter in Josh Barnett, expect to see some of the “old Moxley” come back out in the fight.

Jon Moxley has been on a tear since departing the WWE shortly after WrestleMania 35 this year, with an impressive debut at All Elite Wrestling (AEW) Double or Nothing (and subsequent fight against Joey Janela at Fyter Fest), as well as indie encounters with Killer Kross in Future Stars of Wrestling and Darby Allin in Northeast Wrestling (NEW). He’s spent the last couple of months in New Japan Pro Wrestling, where he’s the current reigning IWGP United States Champion, and is currently undefeated in this year’s G1 Climax Series, with victories over Taichi, Jeff Cobb and a slobber knocker against Tomohiro Ishii.
