Western Australia has an incredible offering of professional wrestling for fans this weekend. The Explosive Pro Wrestling (EPW) faithful have a very exciting card to look forward to which is set to settle a lot fo the fallout from their last show, Goldrush.
Jay Taylor vs Richie Quach
EPW newcomer the ‘Spoilt & Rich’ Richie Quach will make his EPW arena debut when he faces off against a former Invitational Tournament winner & Tag Team Champion, ‘The Prince Of Perth’ Jay Taylor. This match will be no easy task for the debutant!
Last time EPW fans saw Taylor he walked out of Goldrush without his then tag team partner Del Cano. For Quach that may be significant as he recently defeated Del Cano in a triple threat match also featuring Jordan Bishop at EPW Showcase 3 at the EPW Dojo.
Both men have a point to prove with Quach wanting to make a memorable debut and “The Prince of Perth” eager to knock the rookie down a peg and reestablish his position within EPW.
Kiel Steria & David Nero vs Tyler Jacobs & Chadwick Jackson
Two promising young tag teams have a great opportunity to announce themselves on a grand stage and claim their spot in the EPW tag team division this weekend.
For Steria & Nero they will be eager to pick up a victory to re-enter the Tag Team Championship discussion. After pushing the Street Gang Hooligans at Goldrush, a win here can propel them back to the top of the rankings and possibly another chance at the championships.
For Jacobs and Jackson, this is an opportunity to continue spreading their message of ‘light’ to everyone in EPW. A win here against the former number one contenders will afford this team a chance to do just that, and also carve a path towards tag team gold.
Gavin McGavin vs Gorgeous Garry
Two men who very well could be the next in line for a championship opportunity will look to clarify the pecking order this weekend.
McGavin as the most recent former EPW Champion McGavin will feel he is a due to a rematch and should be next in line. However, by virtue of winning the EPW Invitational Tournament Gorgeous Garry feels he is the next man up. This match is a chance for both men to settle the squabbling and define the order of challengers.
Will McGavin reclaim his spot at the top of EPW. Or Will Garry to continue to ride the wave of success towards championship gold?
Mikey Nicholls vs Dan Steel
In recent months Dan Steel has been on a vicious tear, dismantling anybody who steps in his way. With such an impressive streak under his belt, he has bemoaned Explosive Pro Wrestling officials for a lack of attitude and opportunities. EPW officials have heard these complaints and are now set to give Steel his biggest opportunity yet as he faces ‘Mad’ Mikey Nicholls.
Fresh off an impressive run in NJPW and a great victory at Goldrush the former Explosive Pro Wrestling Champion Nicholls will be looking to keep the momentum rolling.
Will Steel be able to take his game to a new level in the opportunity he has been so desperately wanting?
EPW Tag Team Championship Match: The Street Gang Hooligans (Logan Grey & Alex Kingston) (c) vs The Velocities (Jude London & Mat Diamond)
Two of the hottest young tag teams in all of Australia are set to square off this weekend. In Western Australia, The Street Gang Hooligans have been carving out a game for themselves defeating all comers. This weekend though they will face an incredibly stiff challenge when the New South Wales based Velocities step foot into the EPW ring.
Whilst the pairing of Mat Diamond and Jude London is not the usual lineup for The Velocities (typically it would be London and Paris De Silva) these two men can still hang with anybody. Expect London & Diamond to fly around the ring as they attempt to overwhelm The Street Gang Hooligans with sheer speed.
EPW Coastal Championship Match: Scotty Ryan (c) vs Marcus Pitt
The prestigious EPW Coastal Championship will be on the line when current champion Scotty Ryan faces perhaps his toughest challenge yet in five-time former EPW Champion Marcus Pitt.
It’s not just the championship on the line for Ryan though. Pride is also at stake as he looks to rebound after being stabbed in the back by his former friend Julian Ward. The friendship disintegrated when Ward left Ryan in his wake by attacking him and switching his allegiances to The Untouchables.
Both of these men know each other incredibly well through their previous tag team encounters (Ryan as a member of Generation Zero and Pitt a member of TMDK/The Untouchables). So expect a potential show stealer between these two men.
EPW Championship Match: ‘The Don’ Michael Morleone (c) vs Damien Slater
Last month at Goldrush the stakes were at an all-time high. As per then champion Gavin McGavin’s stipulation, if Morleone did not win the EPW Championship, he would never receive another championship opportunity as long as McGavin remained champion. Morleone was able to overcome the odds though and recapture the championship for a second time.
After that shocking ending though, The Untouchables looked to steal the headlines with a post-match attack. Following the attack, Damian Slater has now placed himself at the head of the line and will be giving ‘The Don’ an incredibly tough first championship defence.
Will Morleone’s second championship reign end before it even gets rolling?
