IMPACT Wrestling Signs New Tag Team

IMPACT Wrestling has added a new tag team to their division, as it was revealed on Twitter on Friday that the “cousins” tandem The Deaners, featuring former TNA star Cody Deaner and his “cousin” Jake Deaner (portrayed by indie star Jake Something) had signed with IMPACT Wrestling. They worked the most recent IMPACT TV tapings in Windsor, Ontario, Canada.

Longtime TNA/IMPACT fans will recognize Cody Deaner from his run with the company in 2009, where he was paired with ODB. The two battled the likes of Abyss & Daffney and The Beautiful People‘s Angelina Love & Velvet Sky, before the split over who would fight for the Knockout’s Championship (ODB won their match at No Surrender later that year). Deaner left TNA later that year and has remained a fixture on the Canadian independents, where he’s the current Border City Wrestling Heavyweight Champion (BCW is operated by IMPACT VP Scott D’Amore).

Jake Deaner has had a lot of success on the US indies as Jake Something, where the Michigan native has seen himself rise through the ranks of Glory Pro (where he’s a former Crown of Glory Champion) and All-American Wrestling (AAW), where he’s part of the stable WRSTLING with David Starr, Eddie Kingston and his tag partner, Curt Stallion.
