ROH Signs Indie Tag Team, Maria Manic To Follow Suit

ROH

Ring of Honor is continuing its regrowth following the departure of The Elite and various members of its Women’s division, Women of Honor, in the past year. Over the past weekend, they re-signed Kenny King to a new 2-year deal and signed indie tag team Sons of Savagery to an ROH deal.

The Sons of Savagery, the duo of Bishop Khan and Malcolm Moses, debuted together in MCW Pro (formerly Maryland Championship Wrestling) in 2017 as The Bomb Squad. Throughout 2018, they rose the ranks in the MCW tag team division, changing their name to the Sons of Savagery late in the year, just in time to win the MCW Tag Team titles in November of last year. The duo finally lost their titles this past weekend, where they were revealed to have been offered an ROH contract, which they went on to sign.

While Sons of Savagery have confirmed their signing with ROH, another new recruit is also apparently signed (or on the verge), according to a new report from Fightful.com. According to the report, indie star Maria Manic is expected to be announced soon as the latest member of Women of Honor, just days after Tenille Dashwood announced her departure.

Maria Manic is an intergender and hardcore specialist who isn’t afraid to bleed or get physical, no matter what size or gender her opponent is. One of the toughest women in the sport, Maria Manic has been on the rise the past year and adds some power and toughness to the WOH division. Following its reboot several years ago, WOH has been the victim of inconsistent and suspect booking, resulting in the departure of such stars as Veda Scott, Taeler Hendrix, Faye Jackson, Brandi Rhodes, Deonna Purrazzo, Karen Q, Crazy Mary Dobson (WWE’s Sarah Logan), Madison Rayne and now Dashwood. With WOH down to Kelly Klein, Sumie Sakai, Mandy Leon, Jenny Rose and Stella Grey – as well as their alliance with Stardom, that has only recently shown the promise expected a year ago – the company is in need of restocking new stars, especially with All Elite Wrestling (AEW) making a strong play for their own women’s division. Adding a personality like Maria Manic is a great step in the right direction.
