Looking around the league shows that players like Boston Scott and Justin Jackson offer the best chance of positive performance in the coming weeks.

Note that, in order to be eligible for this list, the player needed to be available in at least 50% of fantasy leagues. However, that could change in the coming days, so keep your eyes peeled. Fellow Eagles running back Miles Sanders suffered an injury during Week 6 and did not return to the game. As of this posting, nobody knows the severity of the injury. However, considering the Eagles play on Thursday, Sanders could face long odds of suiting up in Week 7.

If Sanders cannot go, Boston Scott should have a fantastic week. Philadelphia has basically no depth at running back, so Scott will inherit a three-down workload. The volume alone should give him a safe floor, and the matchup against a terrible New York Giants team gives him a decent ceiling. While he probably won’t replicate Sanders’ weekly output, he should be a solid start if you’re in a pinch.

Justin Jackson

Fresh off a bye week, Justin Jackson should be the lead running back for the Los Angeles Chargers. Jackson saw most of the work in Austin Ekeler’s absence during Week 5, and he looked better than fellow running back Joshua Kelley. Kelley will still have his touches, but it’s safe to assume that Jackson will be the primary ball-carrier.

Los Angeles should have plenty of scoring opportunities with Justin Herbert moving the ball against an atrocious Jacksonville Jaguars team. This one could get ugly, fast, and that’s a great recipe for a running back. He’s a smash play in Week 7 and will have fantasy relevance until Austin Ekeler returns to the lineup.

Tevin Coleman

Update: Raheem Mostert suffered an injury on Sunday Night Football. Depending on the severity, Tevin Coleman could be a priority add
San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan loves his backfield committees, and he’s getting another piece back in the mix. Running back Tevin Coleman is eligible to return from the short-term injured reserve, and all signs indicate that the team will activate him by this time next week.

Coleman is far from a guarantee to earn touches, but he’s too valuable to leave on waivers. Shanahan could turn to Coleman on any given week, and both Raheem Mostert and Jerick McKinnon have injury histories. He’s an intriguing stash in the present with a fairly high ceiling if Mostert and/or McKinnon go down to injury.

Gus Edwards (Deep Stash)

The Baltimore Ravens run the ball more than just about any team in the NFL. This is normally great for fantasy, but the Ravens use a three-headed rushing attack that severely limits the ceiling of all involved. However, that might not be the case moving forward. Mark Ingram suffered an injury in Week 6, leaving J.K. Dobbins and Gus Edwards alone on the depth chart. Dobbins is probably already owned in your league, but Edwards could also carry some fantasy value if Ingram misses time.

Full disclaimer, don’t make a claim for Edwards if you’re looking for a Week 7 play. The Ravens have a bye, so Edwards obviously won’t be able to make an immediate impact. However, he’s well worth a stash if Ingram is out for an extended period of time.

J.D. McKissic

I know, I know. Nobody wants to play J.D. McKissic. However, the fact remains that he is still a major part of this offense. As mentioned last week, the Washington Football Team absolutely loves throwing him the ball. That trend continued in Week 6, as McKissic recorded six targets for 43 yards while recording an additional 41 yards on eight carries. The ceiling obviously isn’t there, but the volume alone makes him a good desperation flex play in PPR. Add in the fact that he’s going against a terrible Dallas defense and you have a recipe for a serviceable performance.

Week 7 Waiver Wire Pickups: Running Back – Wide Receiver – Quarterback – Defense

Main photo:
Embed from Getty Images

Fantasy Football Week 7 Running Back Waiver Wire Pickups: Boston Scott, Justin Jackson, Tevin Coleman, J.D.
