The injury occurred when Samuel and Niners skill-position players were attending an off-season workout in Nashville. However, the team did note that they would have a better understanding of his potential return date closer to training camp. The Jones fracture suffered by Samuel occurred between the base and the middle part of the metatarsal of the foot. Samuel underwent surgery Thursday in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

According to medical professionals, a Jones fracture typically requires a six-to-eight-week recovery time. This, of course, depends on the severity of the injury. If the 49ers end up losing Samuel for any amount of time, their offense could suffer greatly. In 2019, Samuel posted 57 catches for 802 yards and three touchdowns. The young wideout also added 59 yards and three touchdowns on the ground.

In an off-season that saw many personnel changes for the Niners, fans had high hopes for Samuel in 2020. After veteran wideout Emmanuel Sanders inked a deal with the New Orleans Saints in free agency, Samuel was expected to move into the WR1 role for the team. If Samuel is able to make positive progress over the next couple months, then the idea of him leading the 49ers receiving core isn’t out of the realm of possibility.

Late Thursday night, Samuel took to social media to speak on the groundbreaking news. Samuel offered words of encouragement for 49ers fans and even gave a potential timetable. Assuming all goes well, we should see Samuel healthy and ready to go by Week 1.

Main Photo:
Embed from Getty Images

According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel suffered a broken foot during a throwing workout with teammates.

[36,31
4793,61,40,52
post-90312","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-nfl-news","category-49ers","tag-deebo-samuel","tag-football","tag-nfl","tag-san-francisco-49ers
["GET
