The quarantine draft went smoothly with no real issues that we know of. In a loaded draft class, a lot of NFL teams got better. This was particularly true of the AFC North, a division coming off a down year. If the draft is any indication, it will be a much better division next year.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Divisional Draft Grades:\u00a0<\/strong><\/em><em><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonprofootball.com\/2020\/04\/26\/afc-east-2020-nfl-draft-grades\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">AFC East<\/a> &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonprofootball.com\/2020\/04\/26\/afc-south-2020-nfl-draft-grades\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">AFC South<\/a> &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonprofootball.com\/2020\/04\/26\/afc-west-2020-nfl-draft-grades\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">AFC West<\/a> &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonprofootball.com\/2020\/04\/26\/nfc-east-nfl-draft-grades\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">NFC East<\/a> &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonprofootball.com\/2020\/04\/26\/nfc-north-2020-nfl-draft-grades\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">NFC North<\/a> &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonprofootball.com\/2020\/04\/26\/nfc-south-nfl-draft-grades\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">NFC South<\/a> &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonprofootball.com\/2020\/04\/26\/nfc-west-2020-draft-grades\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">NFC West<\/a><\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<h2>2020 AFC North NFL Draft Grades<\/h2>\n<h3><a href=\"http:\/\/lastwordonprofootball.com\/nfl-teams\/ravens\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Baltimore Ravens<\/a>: A<\/h3>\n<p>Players added: Patrick Queen, J.K. Dobbins, Justin Madubuike, Devin Duvernay, Malik Harrison, Tyre Phillips, Ben Bredeson, Broderick Washington, James Proche, Geno Stone<\/p>\n<p>Entering the 2020 NFL draft, the Baltimore Ravens were already the best team in the AFC North. Following the draft, this is even more apparent. Baltimore started the draft with a home run. LSU linebacker <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonprofootball.com\/2020\/04\/09\/patrick-queen-2020-nfl-draft-profile\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Patrick Queen<\/strong><\/a> somehow fell to pick 28, and Baltimore did not hesitate to pick him up. He fills the biggest need on a defense that was already one of the best in the league last year.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonprofootball.com\/2020\/03\/10\/j-k-dobbins-2020-nfl-draft-profile\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>J.K. Dobbins<\/strong><\/a> might not fill a huge need on the Ravens, but he just adds more explosiveness to their offense. He will join a committee of\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/search\/search.fcgi?pid=IngrMa01,IngrMa00&amp;search=Mark+Ingram&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mark Ingram<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/E\/EdwaGu00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Gus Edwards<\/a><\/strong>, and will likely become the starter soon with Ingram getting older. Wide receivers\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonprofootball.com\/2020\/03\/28\/devin-duvernay-2020-nfl-draft-profile\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Devin Duvernay<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>James Proche<\/strong> are great picks as well, adding to an already dangerous offense. Following the retirement of\u00a0<strong>Marshal Yanda<\/strong>, the Ravens needed a guard. They got two in\u00a0<strong>Tyre Phillips<\/strong> and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonprofootball.com\/2020\/04\/11\/ben-bredeson-2020-draft-profile\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Ben Bredeson<\/strong><\/a>. One will end up a starter and the other will be a rotational interior offensive lineman. One of the best offenses in the league got better in this draft.<\/p>\n<p>Baltimore also greatly beefed up its already-stout defensive line in this draft. They already added <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/W\/WolfDe00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Derek Wolfe<\/a><\/strong> and\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/C\/CampCa99.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Calais Campbell<\/a><\/strong> in the off-season. Joining them will be third-round pick <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonprofootball.com\/2020\/03\/26\/justin-madubuike-2020-nfl-draft-profile\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Justin Madubuike<\/strong><\/a> and fifth-rounder <strong>Broderick Washington<\/strong>. The former was one of the highest rate defensive tackles in the draft.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonprofootball.com\/2020\/03\/27\/malik-harrison-2020-nfl-draft-profile\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Malik Harrison<\/strong><\/a> will be joining Queen in a new and improved linebacker group. Iowa safety\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonprofootball.com\/2020\/03\/31\/geno-stone-2020-nfl-draft-profile\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Geno Stone<\/strong><\/a> was an absolute steal in the seventh round and will offer much-needed safety depth. The Ravens had the best draft in the AFC North, and arguably the best in the league.<\/p>\n<h3><a href=\"http:\/\/lastwordonprofootball.com\/nfl-teams\/bengals\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Cincinnati Bengals<\/a>: A-<\/h3>\n<p>Players added: Joe Burrow, Tee Higgins, Logan Wilson, Akeem Davis-Gaither, Khalid Kareem, Hakeem Adeniji, Markus Bailey<\/p>\n<p>The Cincinnati Bengals quietly put together a very good draft.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonprofootball.com\/2020\/02\/03\/joe-burrow-2020-nfl-draft-profile\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Joe Burrow<\/strong><\/a> was a layup pick to them number one overall. He will be their franchise quarterback for the next decade and more. Joining Burrow is Clemson wide receiver\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonprofootball.com\/2020\/02\/21\/tee-higgins-2020-nfl-draft-profile\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Tee Higgins<\/strong><\/a>, a tall and explosive wide receiver who will make a fierce duo with\u00a0<strong>A.J. Green<\/strong>. They probably should have drafted a tackle earlier in the draft, but with only seven picks, they had bigger needs elsewhere. Despite that, Kansas tackle\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonprofootball.com\/2020\/04\/17\/hakeem-adeniji-2020-nfl-draft-profile\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Hakeem Adeniji<\/strong><\/a> was a quality pickup in the sixth round.<\/p>\n<p>Defensively, the Bengals needed to beef up their front seven and they did exactly that. Three of their four defensive picks were used on linebackers and for good reason. Cincinnati&#8217;s linebacker corps was poor last year and was the biggest reason for their major defensive struggles. That was a clear area of need and they knocked it out of the park.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonprofootball.com\/2020\/04\/03\/logan-wilson-2020-nfl-draft-profile\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Logan Wilson<\/strong><\/a> had a case to be an early second-round pick, and the Bengals got him in the third. <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonprofootball.com\/2020\/04\/21\/akeem-davis-gaither-2020-nfl-draft-profile\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Akeem Davis-Gaither<\/strong><\/a> had no business falling out of the third round, but Cincinnati was sure to pick him up to open the fourth.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonprofootball.com\/2020\/04\/19\/markus-bailey-2020-nfl-draft-profile\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Markus Bailey<\/strong><\/a> of Purdue has a lot of potential for a seventh-round pick, too. Joining them on the defensive side of the ball is their fifth-round pick, defensive end <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonprofootball.com\/2020\/04\/11\/khalid-kareem-2020-nfl-draft-profile\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Khalid Kareem<\/strong><\/a> of Notre Dame.<\/p>\n<p>Though they still have some work to do to get out of the basement of the AFC North, this draft was a good first step for the Bengals. They won&#8217;t be the laughingstock that they were last year moving forward.<\/p>\n<h3><a href=\"http:\/\/lastwordonprofootball.com\/nfl-teams\/browns\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Cleveland Browns<\/a>: B+<\/h3>\n<p>Players added: Jedrick Wills, Grant Delpit, Jordan Elliott, Jacob Phillips, Harrison Bryant, Nick Harris, Donovan Peoples-Jones<\/p>\n<p>After winning the 2019 off-season, the Cleveland Browns ended up flopping. They got off to a good start in the 2020 off-season, too, and they followed it up with a good draft. Tackle was by far the team&#8217;s biggest need. It was a bit of a surprise to see <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonprofootball.com\/2020\/03\/05\/jedrick-wills-2020-nfl-draft-profile\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Jedrick Wills<\/strong><\/a> fall all the way to ten, but\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/M\/MayfBa00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Baker Mayfield<\/a><\/strong> isn&#8217;t complaining. Tight end\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonprofootball.com\/2020\/03\/10\/harrison-bryant-2020-nfl-draft-profile\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Harrison Bryant<\/strong><\/a> being drafted was a bit of a surprise and might mean\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/N\/NjokDa00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">David Njoku<\/a><\/strong> will be moved.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonprofootball.com\/2020\/02\/17\/donovan-peoples-jones-2020-nfl-draft-profile\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Donovan Peoples-Jones<\/strong> <\/a>will be a great addition to a wide receiver room featuring\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/B\/BeckOd00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Odell Beckham<\/a><\/strong><strong> Jr.\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/L\/LandJa00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jarvis Landry<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Defensively, the Browns needed to improve at safety and linebacker. They filled one of those needs well. Safety <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonprofootball.com\/2020\/03\/08\/grant-delpit-2020-nfl-draft-profile\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Grant Delpit<\/strong><\/a> might have had a down season last year, but he has a ton of upside and a great value pick at 44. It was a bit surprising to see the team add a defensive lineman before linebacker. They took\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonprofootball.com\/2020\/04\/16\/jordan-elliott-2020-nfl-draft-profile\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Jordan Elliott<\/strong><\/a> (who is a great player, just doesn&#8217;t fill a big need) and then added linebacker <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonprofootball.com\/2020\/04\/19\/jacob-phillips-2020-nfl-draft-profile\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Jacob Phillips<\/strong><\/a> later in the third round. Phillips was probably their worst pick of an otherwise solid draft.<\/p>\n<p>They probably won&#8217;t be competing for the AFC North crown, but the Browns might find themselves competing for a wildcard spot. If they can build some team chemistry (on their third head coach in as many years), the talent is there to make a push towards the playoffs.<\/p>\n<h3><a href=\"http:\/\/lastwordonprofootball.com\/nfl-teams\/steelers\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Pittsburgh Steelers<\/a>: B+<\/h3>\n<p>Players added: Chase Claypool, Alex Highsmith, Anthony McFarland, Kevin Dotson, Antoine Brooks Jr., Carlos Davis<\/p>\n<p>The Pittsburgh Steelers had multiple needs and did a <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonprofootball.com\/2020\/04\/25\/pittsburgh-steelers-2020-nfl-draft-grades\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">good job filling them<\/a> with limited draft capital.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonprofootball.com\/2020\/03\/06\/chase-claypool\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Chase Claypool<\/strong><\/a> will likely be a favorite target of returning quarterback\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/R\/RoetBe00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ben Roethlisberger<\/a><\/strong>. Standing 6&#8217;4&#8243; and running a 4.42 40, Claypool has a ton of potential that Roethlisberger should be able to tap into.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonprofootball.com\/2020\/04\/05\/anthony-mcfarland-2020-nfl-draft-profile\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Anthony McFarland<\/strong><\/a> was a bit of a surprise pick, but at the very least offers big-play potential to a running back group that lacks exactly that. It will be interesting to see how they work to get him touches. Guard <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonprofootball.com\/2020\/04\/20\/kevin-dotson-2020-nfl-draft-profile\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Kevin Dotson<\/strong><\/a> was a phenomenal pickup in the fourth round. He is a bully and will fit right into Pittsburgh&#8217;s offensive scheme.<\/p>\n<p>Defensively, Pittsburgh had four needs: edge rusher, linebacker, safety, and defensive lineman. They filled all four needs with three picks. <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonprofootball.com\/2020\/04\/01\/alex-highsmith-2020-nfl-draft-profile\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Alex Highsmith<\/strong><\/a> out of Charlotte offers much-needed depth on the edge and has loads of potential as a pass rusher. <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonprofootball.com\/2020\/04\/07\/antoine-brooks-jr-2020-nfl-draft-profile\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Antoine Brooks Jr.<\/strong><\/a> is a versatile player who will likely play a linebacker\/safety hybrid role. He&#8217;ll also be a great special teams contributor, something Pittsburgh really needed.\u00a0<strong>Carlos Davis<\/strong> has a lot of athletic promise for a defensive tackle but isn&#8217;t the run-stuffing kind of nose tackle that the team could use.<\/p>\n<p>Pittsburgh was great on defense last year and added much-needed depth on that side of the ball. Offensively, they will get better by default with Roethlisberger coming back. With a new weapon for him to throw to and a beast of an offensive lineman, the offense should take huge leaps forward this year.
