He appeared in all 16 games in his first two seasons with the Lions. Robinson played over 1100 snaps combined in his first two years, including a career high 68% of Detroit’s defensive snaps in 2017. After that season it appeared Robinson was trending in the right direction to become a very good defensive tackle.

The 2018 campaign was a letdown for Robinson. Coming off his great 2017 season, he appeared in just 13 games in 2018 and started in only seven of them. That season saw him play just 42% of Detroit’s defensive snaps, the second lowest mark of his career. His totals in tackles, tackles for loss, and QB hits all decreased from 2017 to 2018. Robinson’s 2018 season was ultimately cut short, as he was on IR at the tail end of the season.

Heading into his contract year in 2019, Robinson was looking for a bounce back season that he ultimately didn’t get. Once again, he appeared in just 13 games. Despite playing beside better defensive line talent than in previous years, Robinson didn’t increase his production much in 2019. His numbers yet again decreased in total tackles and QB hits. Despite that, he did record 1.5 of his five career sacks in 2019. Robinson also forced two fumbles and recovered an additional one on the year. Still, it wasn’t the kind of season that earned him the size contract that some thought he would get following the strong start to his career. At just 24 years old, there is plenty of time for A’Shawn Robinson to right the ship and get back to playing high caliber football.

Main Photo:
Embed from Getty Images

A’Shawn Robinson will be looking to bounce back from a disappointing 2019 campaign with the Detroit Lions following a promising start to his career.

[36
7501,1608,246
post-82283","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-nfl-news","tag-detroit-lions-roster","tag-nfl-free-agency","tag-nfl-news
["GET
