Any chances the team may have had of securing a victory over the Miami Dolphins were eradicated by their own self-inflicted wounds. Blame it on the rain or whatever excuse that makes Sunday’s loss feel better, but the Dolphins had to endure the same grueling conditions as the Cardinals. The Dolphins won the game 26-23, improved their record to 8-5, and now keep their playoff hopes very alive. For the 5-7-1 Cardinals and their 2016 season, stick a fork in it, it’s done.

“I want to do my job for these guys,” said kicker Chandler Catanzaro, after the loss. “They deserve that. That didn’t happen today. I’m just sorry. I don’t know what else to say. Sorry.”

Arizona Cardinals Woes Continue in 26-23 Loss To Miami Dolphins

Cutting losses is very difficult to accept, especially with three games remaining on the regular season schedule. But the Cardinals have dug themselves a hole so deep, the repercussions from this season’s debacle will be carried over into next season. Even after the loss to the Dolphins, somehow the Cardinals woes continue to persist in a spiraling, downward position. Cardinals fans deserve better than what the team is bringing to the table.

Floyd Arrested

Reportedly, wide receiver Michael Floyd was arrested early Monday morning on DUI charges. The incident occurred in Scottsdale, Ariz. around 2:48am. Responding officers surrounded Floyd’s SUV as it sat immobile at an intersection through at least two green-light cycles. When officers approached the SUV, they found Floyd asleep at the wheel. The SUV was running and Floyd’s foot was on the brake.

Floyd was revived by the officers at the scene. With a little encouragement, the officers were able to lead Floyd out of the SUV. Apparently Floyd had “great difficulty responding and complying to commands.” One of the officers reported, “Michael did not fight us but also had to be physically manipulated in order to comply.”

Floyd was arrested and charged with DUI impaired to the slightest degree, obstruction of a roadway, and failure to obey a police officer. Floyd was released later on Monday.

“I’m gathering as much information as I can right now on what happened and what our options are going forward,” said head coach Bruce Arians. I’ll probably have more information about that by Wednesday. Player injuries hold a major part to the team’s dismay. Unfortunately, when back-ups to the back-ups are starting games, the results are never satisfactory.

Added to the “Injured Reserve” list are safety Tyvon Branch (re-aggravated groin muscle tear), safety Deone Bucannon (high-ankle sprain, which may need surgery), and offensive lineman Ulrick John (dislocated shoulder).

Offensive tackle D.J. Humphries (concussion) was also injured in Sunday’s loss to Miami. Due to concussion protocol, Humphries will most likely miss next Sunday’s match up when the Cardinals are at home to take on the New Orleans Saints.

A Little Good News

The Cardinals have released punter Drew Butler.
