Terms of the deal have not yet been disclosed. Van Roten is coming off a 2019 campaign that was cut short due to a toe injury that sent him to the IR after 11 games. Until that point, Van Roten’s season was going very well.

Jets keep adding to their offensive line, this time signing former Panthers starting guard Greg Van Roten, per source.

— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) March 21, 2020

Greg Van Roten Signs With New York Jets

Greg Van Roten was undrafted in 2012 following his career at the University of Pennsylvania. As a Quaker, Van Roten was a three-time Ivy League all-star. He was signed by the Green Bay Packers following the 2012 draft. In his two years in Green Bay, Van Roten appeared in 10 games, mostly on special teams. He played just 18 offensive snaps but 11 special teams snaps while with the Packers.

After bouncing around a few teams, Greg Van Roten signed a one year deal with the Carolina Panthers prior to the 2017 season. In that season, he again mostly contributed as a backup and a special teams player. He showed the team enough potential, though, as they signed him to a two-year extension following that season.

In 2018, Van Roten played his first NFL season as a full time starter. Not only was he a full time starter, but he played every offensive snap for Carolina that season. He was the only Panther to do so. More impressively, in 1058 offensive snaps for the Panthers in 2018, Van Roten wasn’t called for a single penalty, according to Pro Football Reference. Despite allowing four sacks on the year, 2018 was definitely the year that Van Roten was finally able to establish himself as a legitimate starter at left guard.

Last year, Van Roten was again playing quality football before his season was cut short due to his dislocated toe. In those 11 games he was only penalized twice and only allowed one sack, according to Pro Football Focus. Despite the season being cut short, Greg Van Roten was able to earn himself another contract with his reliability and consistency at the left guard position.

Main Photo:
Embed from Getty Images

Greg Van Roten played quality football at left guard for the Panthers last year before his season was cut short due to a toe injury.

[36,6
329,61,6226,218,40,1608,246
post-82179","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-nfl-news","category-jets","tag-carolina-panthers","tag-football","tag-greg-van-roten","tag-new-york-jets","tag-nfl","tag-nfl-free-agency","tag-nfl-news
["GET
