The organization reportedly had their eyes on him ever since he retired from football, and it’s not hard to see why. Gronkowski obviously has the size to compete and his larger-than-life personality should bring fans to the sport. The big tight end previously made a brief cameo in WrestleMania 33 when he helped Mojo Rawley win a battle royal.

Gronkowski is best known for his time with the New England Patriots. Selected in the second round of the 2010 NFL Draft, Gronkowski set the world on fire by catching 10 touchdown passes as a rookie. The Arizona State product only improved from there, recording 90 receptions for 1,327 yards and 18 total touchdowns in 2011. While the big tight end struggled to stay on the field, Gronkowski remained one of the most dominant and unstoppable forces in the league when healthy.

Unfortunately, injuries stole a sizable portion of Gronkowski’s career. During his nine-year NFL career, the former second-round pick suffered ACL, forearm, back, ankle, and countless other injuries. He apparently got out before injuries ruined his post-playing career, and he went out on a high note. Gronkowski played a key role in New England’s sixth championship run, converting a key third-down against the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Championship Game and catching the game-clinching pass in Super Bowl LIII.

Main photo:
Embed from Getty Images

Former New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski is reportedly “close” to joining WWE.
