The center from Duke would then go through a number of transactions before ultimately being added to the Ravens practice squad for the 2017 season. Then with Ravens long-time right guard Marshal Yanda suffering an injury Week 2, Skura would make his first start for the team Week 3. Skura struggled early adjusting to a new position, and would briefly lose starts to Alex Lewis, but would secure his job and finish the season starting the Ravens final eight games.

In 2018, Skura firmly cemented himself on the Ravens offensive line. He would be named the teams starting center to begin the season and would go on to play every offensive snap (regular season and playoffs) for Baltimore. The Ravens would finish their season as a top-10 offense for the first time since 1997. Moving back to center was a challenge for the second-year player but he mightly improved his play the following year.

Skura would keep his job as the starting center in 2019 and helped the Ravens set a record-breaking pace running the football throughout the first 12 weeks of the season. He had a career-high PFF grade of 68.7 — a 10.3 point improvement from the year prior. However, Skura’s career-year took a turn when he was injured Week 12. At the time of his injury, Skura had played the second-most snaps of any player in the NFL since the beginning of the 2018 season.

Main photo:
Embed from Getty Images

Baltimore Ravens center Matt Skura has signed a new deal with his 2019 team. The 27-year-old was having his most impressive season to date before going down Week 12 against the Los Angeles Rams with a knee injury.
