Swift continued his upward trend as a Sophomore where he played in 14 games and lead the team in both yards, with 1,049, as well as touchdowns, with ten. This past season was more of the same for Swift as he was named a team captain, earned a spot on the coaches’ All-SEC first team, and again led the Bulldogs in rushing with 1,218 yards on 196 carries.

Strengths

Elite ball carrier vision

Strong burst

Runs with physicality

Makes smart cuts and always keeps his legs driving

Controlled speed

Tremendous balance when absorbing and bouncing off tacklers

Soft hands coupled with the ability to run a full running back route tree

Solid pass protection technique

Weaknesses

Does not possess eye-popping breakaway speed

Has not been given an extremely heavy workload

On the shorter side of running backs

Physical running style could lead to injury at the next level

Pass protection needs some polishing but the fundamentals are there

NFL Comparison: Dalvin Cook

Teams With Need at Position: Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Kansas City Chiefs, Miami Dolphins, Atlanta Falcons, Houston Texans

Projection: Mid first to early second round

Bottom Line on D’Andre Swift

Swift is considered by many to be the best running back in this year’s draft class. He has the talent and potential to be a three-down runner in the NFL with an ability to impact the game in many different ways. Swift possesses an impressive blend of power, elite quickness, receiving ability, and vision within his game. While his one-cut, downhill style would benefit most within a zone-blocking scheme, his rare blend of skills will improve any team’s offense.

Perhaps Swift’s two most impressive traits are his vision for finding a positive running lane despite traffic, and his ability to maintain balance while bouncing off tacklers. Furthermore, while Le’Veon Bell is not the best overall comparison for Swift, the two share a very similar ability to patiently wait behind the offensive line before making a cut and bursting through an open hole. This is a rare quality for a runner even at the NFL level and one which is largely instinctive that cannot be fully taught. Additionally, Swift should also be heavily featured within a team’s screen and short passing game as he presents a matchup nightmare on all levels for a defense.

Main photo:
Embed from Getty Imageswindow.gie=window.gie||function(c){(gie.q=gie.q||[]).push(c)};gie(function(){gie.widgets.load({id:’A4OJ9eXaSvheSAUD4Ot2EQ’,sig:’LqM7I22FE7O5txpUKFRLcneFalPfVp8ze8ZPPivSW3g=’,w:’594px’,h:’396px’,items:’1209539432′,caption: true ,tld:’com’,is360: false })});

Georgia running back D’Andre Swift looks to take his talents from the college level to the NFL during the 2020 NFL Draft.

[1647,54
5273,6194,1586,61,114,122,98,40,1900
post-81431","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-nfl-draft","category-editorials","tag-2020-nfl-draft","tag-dandre-swift","tag-dalvin-cook","tag-football","tag-houston-texans","tag-kansas-city-chiefs","tag-leveon-bell","tag-nfl","tag-nfl-combine
["GET
