The Green Bay Packers<\/a> have signed longtime kicker\u00a0Mason Crosby<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>to a three-year extension, according to<\/a> ESPN’s\u00a0Adam Schefter<\/strong>. As of this posting, the exact financial details of the new agreement are not available to the public. Crosby spent 2019 as Green Bay’s primary kicker and helped the team make it all the way to the NFC Championship Game.<\/p>\n

Green Bay Packers Extend Mason Crosby<\/strong><\/h2>\n

After a relative down year in 2018, Crosby returned to being one of the NFL’s more reliable legs in 2019. Appearing in all 16 games, the Colorado product converted on a career-best 91.7% of his field goal attempts and 97.6% of his extra-point attempts. The 35-year old made all 14 of his field goal attempts from within 40 yards and went 8\/10 on kicks beyond 40 yards.<\/p>\n

Crosby initially entered the league as sixth-round pick in the 2007 NFL Draft. Selected by the Green Bay Packers, the Colorado product immediately won the job and will be Green Bay’s primary kicker for the 14th straight year. Throughout the course of his career, Crosby has converted 329 of his 406 field goals, good for an 81% career average. His long of 58 yards is one of the longest in NFL history.<\/p>\n

After failing to convert 80% or more of his kicks through the first four years of his career, Crosby managed to dramatically improve as his career progressed. In 2011, Crosby converted 85.7% of his field goal attempts and, after a subpar 2012, managed to stay above 80% in seven of his next eight seasons. Even though this deal lasts through Crosby’s age-38 season, the kicker has shown no signs of slowing down.<\/p>\n

Crosby was the primary kicker on Green Bay’s 2010 Super Bowl squad, but is no stranger to kicking in big moments. The former sixth-round pick has appeared in four NFC Championship Games and has to kick in the often-unfriendly confines of Green Bay and the NFC North.<\/p>\n
