Of the 30 picks, seven were returned for touchdowns — a new NFL record for pick-sixes thrown in a season. His interception total was the most any player had thrown – post-merger – since Vinny Testaverde threw an NFL record 35 back in 1988. He has the most games with multiple turnovers since entering the league five years ago but sits 10th in touchdown passes and seventh in passing yards. Under Winston, the Bucs ranked third in the NFL in total offense (397.9 YPG) and tied for third in scoring (28.6 PPG) last season.

Going back as far as his Heisman winning season in 2013, Winston’s talent has never been in question; it’s been the consistency of how he plays. The former National Champion won NFL rookie of the year his first season in the NFL but failed to bring Tampa Bay prolonged success over his tenure. As part of the Bucs, Winston never won over nine games in an NFL season and is yet to appear in a playoff game. He only lost one game in his two years as the first-string quarterback for Florida State.

While Winston’s career has been anything but smooth, up to this point, the upcoming season may be his last chance to prove himself as an NFL starter. If Winston is to remain an NFL starter he needs to have a strong 2020.

Main Photo:
Embed from Getty Images

Jameis Winston in 2019 became the first quarterback to have 30 or more touchdowns and interceptions each.
