Early Friday was a different tune, as Jones went on a profanity-laced rant on Dallas’ 105.3 The Fan. It seems that the ‘ol “yes man” for the Cowboys is on thin ice, and it’s a long time coming.

The Dallas Cowboys Must Move on From Jason Garrett

Questionable Decisions

Garrett has been the head coach of the Cowboys for a decade now, with some success. He has a winning record, due in large part to two really good years of Tony Romo and Dez Bryant, then three years of Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliott. He won multiple playoff games, but he’s 2-3, and cannot reach the NFC Championship. Spoiler alert: they’re not getting there this year either. The current season is marred by questionable decisions. Garrett’s team is 0-6 against teams .500 or better and 3-1 against teams under .500. He decided to kick field goals in a game against the Patriots, which cost his team.

In a Sunday night game against the Minnesota Vikings, at home, they blew another possible win. It started upfront with no running game. Granted, the Vikings are a very good defensive team, but Dallas had its chances. To top it off, the final two drives were a mess. They drove the ball downfield at will with the pass, as Amari Cooper worked his toe drag skills. Then, all of a sudden, they tried to run it twice when they were inside the 25-yard line. Then, after getting a stop, Tavon Austin was inexplicably told to fair catch the punt. This happened, but Austin had a ton of room to run and even had a wall of blockers along the sideline. This cost the Cowboys another close game because of poor coaching decisions.

Coaching Incompetency

Garrett is a good coach, just not good enough. Sean Payton and the New Orleans Saints in Week 4, Bill Belichick in Week 12, Sean McDermott on Thanksgiving, and now Matt Nagy on Thursday night. All these coaches have one thing in common: they’ve beaten the Dallas Cowboys. Although losing to New England is understandable, it is not an excuse. All four of these losses have been within reach, and coaching decisions have decided the games’ outcome. Therefore, reflecting badly on the Cowboys, and the Jones family, as they expect to put a winner on the field every year.

Jerry Jones is Unhappy

Jerry Jones is visibly and audibly upset with the state of his team, and he has placed most of the blame on coaching.
