Whether it was injuries, poor drafting, or just plain bad luck, a good amount of teams are not going to make the playoffs. For those that do, the search for more players to add to their roster is far from over. This week, Ryan Tannehill, Chris Conley, and Patrick Laird are players to keep an eye on during week 13’s action. Randall Cobb is a returning player to the watch list who is worth adding now.

Week 13 Fantasy Football Watch List: Ryan Tannehill, Chris Conley, and More

Ryan Tannehill

Suddenly the Tennessee Titans are right in the thick of things for a wild card spot after their demolition of the Jacksonville Jaguars this past Sunday. A huge reason behind this is quarterback Ryan Tannehill’s four-touchdown game. The veteran signal-caller threw for two, and then ran another two in, making many Titans fans forget that Marcus Mariota ever existed.

Tannehill has now gone 4-1 as a starter for Tennessee, playing efficient football and giving the offense a passing threat that they have been missing for a while. Tannehill has thrown for at least one touchdown in each of his starts and hasn’t scored less than 18 points in a week. In fact, Tannehill is actually the QB3 since Week 7, when he got his first start.

Looking at his schedule, he has some juicy matchups. Next week against the Indianapolis Colts is nothing to marvel at, but then he gets the Oakland Raiders, and Houston Texans, two of the worst pass defenses in the league. If Tannehill clears waivers, he is a great player to snatch and stash on the bench for teams with shaky quarterback situations.

Chris Conley

At the wide receiver position, Chris Conley is one player to keep tabs on. Conley has proven to be a solid part of the Jacksonville Jaguars offense for over a quarter of a season now. He started the season with a bang, scoring 18.7 points in half-point PPR, but trended downward for the next part of the season. He bottomed out in Week 6, not able to muster a single catch on his three targets.

However, since then, he has started to some consistency in his game. Conley hasn’t seen less than seven targets in a game since Week 7 and has only scored less than 6.9 points one time. Conley is mainly a deep threat guy, giving him as high a ceiling as any player in the league. However, his target share also gives him a good floor, decreasing the chances of him busting completely.

Conley is still a risky pick any week, but in deep leagues, he is someone that could be worth an add should an injury strike at the wide receiver position.

Patrick Laird

Once Kenyan Drake became the latest player to be shipped out of the dumpster fire that is the Miami Dolphins 2019 season, Kalen Ballage truthers were finally ready to reap the benefits of their patience. Unfortunately, the fruits were dead on the vine. Ballage has been abysmal this season. Ballage spelled Drake while he was there and has started three games since Drake left. Yet, he only has 135 rushing yards on the entire season. Worse yet, he has a 1.9 yards-per-carry average.

This has prompted one man on Twitter to ask a very important question:

Is Kalen Ballage the worst player in the entire NFL?

— Eliot Crist 🏆 (@EliotCrist) November 22, 2019

It doesn’t even take a Madden GM to figure out that Ballage is not good. He seems to have gotten a pass because the entire Dolphins offense hasn’t been any better. But, they are starting to come to life a bit more lately, and it is only a matter of time before the team takes notice of their weak link.

At this point, Laird hasn’t really done enough to warrant an add yet. He only has six total carries on the season for 31 yards. He does have a 5.2 yards-per-carry average, but the small sample size makes the number unreliable. Still, at this point, Laird will probably get his shot if Ballage keeps stinking up the field.

Redux: Randall Cobb

Last week, Randall Cobb made his second stint on the watch list after his second-straight 100-plus-yard game. Cobb came back down to earth in some sense last week but basically cemented himself as a player to add in fantasy. In a game where most of the Dallas Cowboys offense was shut down, Cobb still managed four catches for 86 yards. He also notched his fourth straight game with at least seven targets.

His teammate, Amari Cooper, put up a goose egg in blanket coverage against Stephon Gilmore. Things don’t get any easier for Cooper either, with Tre’Davious White and Jalen Ramsey still on the horizon in two of the next three games. This makes Cobb an intriguing option to close out the season.

Embed from Getty Images

Ryan Tannehill and Chris Conley are two players making late-season surges in fantasy football.
