Eight weeks of NFL play are officially in the books, which means bye weeks are in full swing. Gone are the days where you could just coast by on a strong draft. Now more than ever, you\u2019ll need to search the waiver wire for all the best available quarterbacks. Heading into Week 8, you should set your eyes on Jacoby Brissett<\/a>, Sam Darnold<\/a><\/strong>,\u00a0Kirk Cousins<\/a><\/strong>, and\u00a0Ryan Tannehill<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Note that in order to make this list, the player had to be available in over 50% of fantasy leagues. If you\u2019re in smaller leagues, there may be better players available. Make sure to check your waivers to see if there are any diamonds in the rough before submitting your claims.<\/p>\n

Jacoby Brissett, Sam Darnold Highlight Fantasy Football Week 8 Quarterback Waiver Wire Claims<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Jacoby Brissett<\/h3>\n

Indianapolis Colts quarterback Jacoby Brissett keeps getting better and better. Andrew Luck<\/a><\/strong>\u2019s former backup entered the week as the QB17 in standard-scoring formats but will certainly finish above that following his 326-yard, four-touchdown performance. Brissett has steadily improved as the season progressed and finally has a healthy T.Y. Hilton<\/a><\/strong> by his side. He\u2019s definitely not going to repeat his Week 7 success in Week 8, but he should have a strong performance against the Denver Broncos.<\/p>\n

Denver\u2019s defense has talent, but the unit hasn\u2019t played up to the sum of their parts. Brissett should be able to tear Denver apart through the air, and there\u2019s a chance that Denver\u2019s defense is going to lose parts between now and Sunday. The Broncos are not contenders and are clearly going to sell at the trade deadline. Brissett\u2019s job should be even easier if somebody like Chris Harris<\/a><\/strong> wasn\u2019t in the secondary next week.<\/p>\n

Sam Darnold<\/h3>\n

As of this posting, Sam Darnold has not faced off against the New England Patriots on Monday Night Football. Chances are, he\u2019s not going to look good against what is arguably the best defense in football. Darnold isn\u2019t the type of quarterback you can set as a week-in, week-out starter, but he has the potential to be a great matchup-based play.<\/p>\n

In Week 8, Darnold and the Jets face off against a Jalen Ramsey<\/a><\/strong>-free Jacksonville Jaguars defense. This is still a solid unit on the whole, but Darnold has the talent to take advantage of this matchup. Look for Darnold to look like he did against the Dallas Cowboys with Robby Anderson<\/a><\/strong> and Jamison Crowder<\/a><\/strong> helping move the chains.<\/p>\n

Kirk Cousins<\/h3>\n

Kirk Cousins is the definition of an average quarterback. After looking like one of the worst quarterbacks in the league early in the season, Cousins has positively regressed with three straight above-average games. He\u2019s never going to be a consistent top-10 fantasy quarterback, but he has the skills to be a QB1 in the right matchup.<\/p>\n

Week 8 presents the right matchup. Cousins and the Vikings face off against a bad Washington Redskins defense on Thursday Night Football. Washington\u2019s defense held Jimmy Garoppolo<\/a><\/strong> in check last week, but that was probably a one-game fluke. This defense is bad, and Cousins should be able to put up a strong performance with or without Adam Thielen<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Ryan Tannehill<\/h3>\n

Ryan Tannehill is nobody\u2019s idea of a perfect stream, but he can put up decent numbers if you\u2019re playing in a two-quarterback league. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are one of the best defenses for an opposing quarterback to face. The unit boasts one of the best run defenses in the league and one of the worst secondaries in football.<\/p>\n

The Titans want to be a run-first team, but they\u2019ll have a tough time moving the ball on the ground against this defense. Because of this, they\u2019ll have to turn to the air, and they should have great success in that regard. Corey Davis<\/a>, Adam Humphries<\/a><\/strong>, and A.J. Brown<\/a><\/strong> are all capable of getting open, and Tannehill is capable of connecting with the open man.<\/p>\n
