The breakdown will consist of \u201cthe best\u201d at every position followed by \u201cthe rest\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonprofootball.com\/2019\/09\/04\/2019-nfc-west-breakdown-position-defense\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em><strong>NFC West Breakdown By Position: The Defense<\/strong><\/em><\/a><\/p>\n<h2><b>2019 NFC West Breakdown By Position: The Offense<\/b><\/h2>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Quarterback<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Best: Seattle Seahawks<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Rest: Arizona Cardinals, LA Rams, San Francisco 49ers<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The quarterback position is quite interesting in this division for the first time in years. <\/span><b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/W\/WilsRu00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Russell Wilson<\/a><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> barely ran the ball this year, 376 yards on 67 attempts (lowest attempts in his career), and only threw for 427 passes. However, Wilson still had a perfect quarterback rating (158.3) throwing to <\/span><b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/L\/LockTy00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Tyler Lockett<\/a><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and was the best deep-ball thrower last year due to maximizing play-action passes. His passing touchdown efficiency (8.20% touchdown rate) was comparable to <\/span><b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/M\/MahoPa00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Patrick Mahomes<\/a><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2019 numbers (8.62% touchdown rate) despite the team finishing dead last in pass attempts.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On top of that, <\/span><b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/G\/GoffJa00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jared Goff<\/a><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> has turned into a <\/span><b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/R\/RivePh00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Philip Rivers<\/a><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">-esque quarterback. He puts up impressive stats year in, year out, but doesn\u2019t garner much attention because he isn\u2019t as mobile or as flashy as most of the modern era quarterbacks playing right now. Speaking of modern era quarterbacks, how will <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonprofootball.com\/2019\/03\/25\/kyler-murray-fantasy-football-best-team-fits\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><b>Kyler Murray<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> fair once he starts facing real NFL defenses showing him various schemes and fake looks? <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Another team with some question marks that is still holding out hope is the San Francisco 49ers. Will <\/span><b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/G\/GaroJi00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jimmy Garoppolo<\/a><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> stay healthy? Can he be a successful starter in the NFL or was his five-game win streak the peak of his career? Only time will tell for the last two QB\u2019s, but what I can say is that I am excited to see these QB\u2019s duel each other this year. If every team in this division gets there way, then the NFC West might rise again as one of the toughest divisions in football.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Running Back<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Best: LA Rams<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Rest: Arizona Cardinals, San Francisco 49ers, Seattle Seahawks<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This might be the division that yields the best running game teams in the entire NFL. <\/span><b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/G\/GurlTo01.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Todd Gurley<\/a><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/search\/search.fcgi?pid=JohnDa08,JohnDa05&amp;search=David+Johnson&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">David Johnson<\/a><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/C\/CarsCh00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Chris Carson<\/a><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &amp; <\/span><b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/P\/PennRa00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Rashaad Penny<\/a><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, plus <\/span><b>Kyle Shanahan<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2019s running back scheme is going to be giving the NFC West\u2019s defensive lines fits every time they face each other.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Honestly, it\u2019s a tough call deciding between a presumably injured <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/G\/GurlTo01.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Todd Gurley<\/strong><\/a> and a resurging <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/search\/search.fcgi?pid=JohnDa08,JohnDa05&amp;search=David+Johnson&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>David Johnson<\/strong><\/a>, who is a fellow 2,000-yard scrimmage player that flashed MVP potential. However, it would be foolish to conduct this exercise assuming Gurley is somehow less explosive than before. Gurley has had issues with his knee going back to his college days. That being said, if Gurley and DJ both stay fully healthy then it\u2019s no question that I\u2019ll be taking Gurley in that <\/span><b>Sean McVay<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> offense over newcomer <\/span><b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/K\/KingKl00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Kliff Kingsbury<\/a><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Wide Receiver<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Best: LA Rams<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Rest: Arizona Cardinals, San Francisco 49ers, Seattle Seahawks<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Los Angeles Rams consistently field one of the best offenses in the NFL. So, it goes without saying that the Rams have one of the best wide receiving trios in the league. <\/span><b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/C\/CookBr00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Brandin Cooks<\/a><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/search\/search.fcgi?pid=WoodRo02,WoodRo21,WoodRo00&amp;search=Robert+Woods&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Robert Woods<\/a><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and <\/span><b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/K\/KuppCo00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Cooper Kupp<\/a><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> have varying specialties, yet they all maintain themselves as big-play threats. Despite Kupp missing half the season, this lot still combined for 206 receptions, 2,989 yards, and 17 touchdowns. Kupp was on pace for 80 receptions, 1,132 yards, and most importantly 12 touchdowns! This success is undoubtedly <\/span>Sean McVay<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2019s doing, but coaching is a huge factor in determining any player\u2019s success. If you believe McVay\u2019s passing attack to be prolific then you have to buy into the wide receivers involved in said passing game.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Cardinals have a bunch of young unknown talent outside of future Hall of Famer <\/span><b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/F\/FitzLa00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Larry Fitzgerald<\/a><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, who is nearing the end of his illustrious career. The 49ers best wide receiver is <\/span><b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/P\/PettDa00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Dante Pettis<\/a><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, but then who else do they truly have? Rookie <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonprofootball.com\/2019\/02\/26\/deebo-samuel-2019-nfl-draft-profile\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><b>Deebo Samuel<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">? The oft-injured <\/span><b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/G\/GoodMa00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Marquise Goodwin<\/a><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">? The Seahawks feel like almost the exact same situation as the 49ers, except more people are hype about <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/P\/PettDa00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Dante Pettis<\/a> than <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/L\/LockTy00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Tyler Lockett<\/a>. Will rookie D.K. Metcalf live up to the hype or just be another bust? Analysts adore <\/span><b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/M\/MoorDa03.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">David Moore<\/a><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, but will he be a breakout? Only time will tell.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tight End<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Best: San Francisco 49ers<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Rest: Arizona Cardinals, LA Rams, Seattle Seahawks<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This is quite literally no contest. The biggest position discrepancy by far in this division is the tight end position. Don\u2019t believe me that the gap is that staggeringly huge? No problem. Consider the fact that in 2018, <\/span><b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/S\/SealRi00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ricky Seals-Jones<\/a><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/W\/WillMa04.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Maxx Williams<\/a><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/V\/VannNi00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Nick Vannett<\/a><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/H\/HigbTy00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Tyler Higbee<\/a><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and <\/span><b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/E\/EverGe00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Gerald Everett<\/a><\/b> <i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">combined <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">had 10 yards less than <\/span><b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/K\/KittGe00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">George Kittle<\/a><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2019s 1,377 yards\u2026 <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">COMBINED<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">! That\u2019s insanely terrible on the part of these other TE\u2019s and a stunning breakout performance on Kittle\u2019s part. I don\u2019t know which stat impressed me more. These five other tight ends didn\u2019t even average 275 yards on the season. On the other hand, Kittle surpassed <\/span><b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/K\/KelcTr00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Travis Kelce<\/a><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2019s incredibly short record for the most single-season yardage for a TE with his 1,377 yards. In addition, he fell only five yards short (210 yards) from breaking Hall of Famer <\/span><b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/S\/SharSh00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Shannon Sharpe<\/a><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2019s single-game record for most receiving yards by a TE (214 yards). It\u2019s safe to say this was a no brainer even if you\u2019re a Cardinals, Rams, or Seahawks fan.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Offensive Line<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Best: LA Rams\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Rest: Arizona Cardinals, San Francisco 49ers, Seattle Seahawks<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Seahawks do have an ascending offensive line. Just take a look at their great run game, albeit they did run the football the most out of any team so that would make most subpar-average pass-blocking offensive lines look good. The 49ers displayed excellent run blocking, but that\u2019s more scheme from Kyle Shanahan than it is the talent on the line. Overall, they\u2019re just a mediocre run-blocking line that are the perfect example of a team being greater than the sum of its parts due to scheming. Man\u2026 what to say about the Cardinals? Please oh boy, please don\u2019t get Kyler Murray and David Johnson killed this year. The biggest caveat to joining the Cardinals offensive bandwagon is that they have arguably a bottom-five offensive line. For my own sanity, I\u2019ll end this mini-rant here.
