The runaway two-time <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nfl.com\/news\/story\/0ap3000001015472\/article\/aaron-donald-named-2018-defensive-player-of-year\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Defensive Player of the Year<\/a> was not only voted as a member of the 2019 first-team All-Pro squad but also was voted as the number one overall player on the NFL\u2019s Top 100 Players List. In an offensive-minded league, Donald remains as a truly transcendent player that is without a doubt the best defensive player in the NFL. When you have a player of this caliber that\u2019s essentially a lock for the Hall of Fame, then your position group is easily considered one of the best in the NFL, let alone the division.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Seattle Seahawks would\u2019ve been next on this list if it weren\u2019t for a few key factors. The loss of <\/span><b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/C\/ClarFr01.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Frank Clark<\/a><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, the six-game suspension of <\/span><b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/R\/ReedJa02.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jarran Reed<\/a><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and <\/span><b><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/A\/AnsaEz00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ziggy Ansah<\/a> <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">being injured (<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">again<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">) all have led to the significant decline in the Seahawks defensive line. <\/span><b>Pete Carroll <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">will coach this group up to be at a respectable level, but nothing close to the dominance that the Rams will have with Donald at the helm. The San Francisco 49ers have the deepest defensive line in the division for sure with the additions of <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonprofootball.com\/2019\/02\/10\/nick-bosa-2019-nfl-draft-profile\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><b>Nick Bosa<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/F\/FordDe00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Dee Ford<\/a> <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">presumably providing them with immediate impact players. The Arizona Cardinals, unfortunately, lack punch upfront on their defensive line. Their ability to rush from the interior is by far the weakest of the lot. I expect the Seahawks deprived defensive line to easily yield better results even without Reed and Clark.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Linebackers<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Best: Seattle Seahawks<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Rest: Arizona Cardinals, LA Rams, San Francisco 49ers<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/W\/WagnBo00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Bobby Wagner<\/a><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/W\/WrigK.00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">K.J. Wright<\/a><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> make for one of the best linebacker duos in the entire NFL. Add in the recent breaking news of <\/span><b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/C\/ClowJa00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jadeveon Clowney<\/a> <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">to the Seahawks and you can wrap this section up in a nice bow. It\u2019s so incredibly lopsided that talking about the rest of the division\u2019s linebackers feels like more of an exercise in illustrating how certain general managers value this position group. In short, I can\u2019t wait to see these star running backs run into the brick wall that is Seattle\u2019s new LB corp.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Arizona Cardinals added <\/span><b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/S\/SuggTe99.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Terrell Suggs<\/a><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/H\/HickJo00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jordan Hicks<\/a><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and <\/span><b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/search\/search.fcgi?pid=WalkJo01,WalkJo20&amp;search=Joe+Walker&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Joe Walker<\/a><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to assist Pro Bowler <\/span><b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/search\/search.fcgi?pid=JoneCh03,JoneCh07&amp;search=Chandler+Jones&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Chandler Jones<\/a><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/R\/ReddHa00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Haason Reddick<\/a><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to give this team a strong veteran presence. Hopefully, their influence will be able to help Reddick live up to his first-round pedigree. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Prior to Clowney coming to the Seahawks, this could have been a bit more of a discussion. The 49ers made a free agent splash by adding <\/span><b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/A\/AlexKw00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Kwon Alexander<\/a> <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. However, there\u2019s a reason that Tampa let him go. He\u2019s flashed moments of greatness with them, but this may be a case where an above-average player got overpaid due to the 49ers team needs. As for the Rams, there is potential with <\/span><b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/F\/FowlDa00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Dante Fowler<\/a><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in defensive coordinator, <\/span><b>Wade Phillips\u2019 <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">system. But the rest of the linebacker corp is lacking in talent. <\/span><b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/L\/LittCo01.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Cory Littleton<\/a> <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and company don\u2019t even hold a candle to Seattle\u2019s enviable lineup at this positional group. This is the Rams\u2019 weakest position group by far, but at least they can still say that overall they have one of the best rosters in the entire league.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cornerbacks<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Best: Los Angeles Rams<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Rest: Arizona Cardinals, San Francisco 49ers, Seattle Seahawks<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It\u2019s incredibly tempting to side with the Cardinals on this one. After all, <\/span><b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/P\/PetePa00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Patrick Peterson<\/a> <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">is one of the best cornerbacks in the league and the additions of veteran <\/span><b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/A\/AlfoRo00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Robert Alford<\/a><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and rookie <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonprofootball.com\/2019\/03\/05\/byron-murphy-2019-nfl-draft-profile\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><b>Byron Murphy <\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">are enticing. However, Peterson has a six-game suspension to start the season, rookie Byron Murphy will be tested early instead of getting to sit and learn behind him, and Alford is on the back end of his career. On the other hand, the Rams have <\/span><b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/T\/TaliAq99.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Aqib Talib<\/a><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/P\/PeteMa00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Marcus Peters<\/a><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and <\/span><b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/R\/RobeNi00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Nickell Robey-Coleman<\/a><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. The Seahawks and 49ers definitely leave you wanting more compared to their division rivals.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Safety<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Best: Los Angeles Rams<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Rest: Arizona Cardinals, San Francisco 49ers, Seattle Seahawks<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Veterans <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/W\/WeddEr99.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Eric Weddle<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0and <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/search\/search.fcgi?pid=JohnJo10,JohnJo21,JohnJo22&amp;search=John+Johnson&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">John Johnson<\/a><\/strong> make for an underrated safety duo. Weddle may have lost a step but his football IQ has never been higher than it was last season with the Baltimore Ravens.
