After being released<\/a> by the New England Patriots<\/a>, Dontrelle Inman<\/strong><\/a> has returned to the team that helped put him on the map. Inman is signing a deal with the Los Angeles Chargers<\/a>. Contract details are pending at this time. Ian Rapoport first reported the news.<\/p>\n

Dontrelle Inman Signs With the Los Angeles Chargers<\/h2>\n

This will be a good signing for the Chargers, who had a lack of veteran depth among their wide receivers \u2013 after the duo of Keenan Allen<\/strong><\/a> and Mike Williams<\/a><\/strong>, it was Travis Benjamin<\/a><\/strong> and then no one else that really anyone\u2019s heard of. This will give Philip Rivers<\/a><\/strong> another reliable target to throw to that he is familiar with. Coincidentally, it seems that it was in part because of Rivers that Inman returned to the Chargers.<\/p>\n

Inman played high school football with Batesburg-Leesville in South Carolina, before going to Virginia in college. He went undrafted in 2011, and was signed by the Jacksonville Jaguars<\/a> briefly and then cut at the end of training camp. He then played a stint for the Toronto Argonauts of the CFL for two years.<\/p>\n

The Chargers signed Inman in 2014, where he remained until midway through the 2017 season. He had a breakout of sorts with the team. His best season came in 2016 when he had 58 catches for 810 yards and four touchdowns. In 2017 he slipped on the depth chart due to the return of Allen from injury and Williams being drafted. He was then traded to the Chicago Bears<\/a> where he spent the remainder of the season.<\/p>\n

Inman then signed with the Indianapolis Colts<\/a> in October 2018, and in nine games with them put up 304 yards and three touchdowns. He signed with the Patriots back in May but was released after only three months \u2013 probably in part because of the return of Josh Gordon<\/strong><\/a>. Thus far in his career, he has 1,890 yards and 11 touchdowns.<\/p>\n
