Historically, the Patriots prefer to extend Brady before his final season, and 2019 is no exception. The deal keeps him with the team until 2021, and Brady should have a few more years left in his tank.

Brady carried a $27 million cap hit prior to the extension, so it’s safe to say that this extension should lower his cap number. Brady previously re-worked his contract prior to the start of the 2018 season, adding additional incentives. Even though he didn’t reach said incentives, the current CBA dictates that a contract cannot be extended or reworked in less than one calendar year.

Brady initially entered the league as the 199th pick in the 2000 NFL Draft. He’s widely accepted as the greatest quarterback to ever play the game and has spent the entirety of his career in New England. Additionally, Brady has also revolutionized late-career fitness through the TB12 regiment.
