The 2014 second-round draft pick was the team’s leading receiver in 2018. Landry hauled in 81 receptions for 976 yards with four touchdowns. He finished as the number 22 receiver in standard fantasy leagues and number 18 in half-PPR leagues. But the 2019 season may be different. Odell Beckham is now a Brown so Landry isn’t the number one man in town anymore. But he could still be in line for a good season and may even outplay his expectations.

Fantasy Football Draft Headquarters

Jarvis Landry Fantasy Football Outlook

2018 Recap

As mentioned above, Landry was Cleveland’s leading receiver in 2018. He had the most receptions and receiving yards on the team, although rookie Antonio Callaway had one more touchdown than Landry. In Landry’s five years in the league, he has scored either four or five touchdowns in four out of five of his seasons in the league. The 2017 season was the lone outlier with nine scores.

In 2018, Landry was the big man in town. The most veteran receiver on a team with a rookie quarterback. Not only were there expectations for him on the field, but he also had to be a good leader in the locker room. The rookie Callaway had off the field issues in college at the University of Florida so a veteran presence in Landry was a good factor for his first year in the league. Now the question is how will Landry fare in the 2019 season with a new teammate and in Baker Mayfield‘s second season?

2019 Outlook

Landry has a “new” teammate in Beckham Jr., but they are very good friends already. They both attended Lousiana State University together and were drafted the same year. But will Landry’s production suffer due to the Browns picking up a top-five receiver? Callaway is also planning to have a big year, with a goal of over 1,000 yards and 10 touchdowns. The receiving room is definitely more crowded this year. Besides those already mentioned, you have David Njoku, Rashard Higgins, Duke Johnson, Nick Chubb, and eventually Kareem Hunt who will be vying for the ball. There will be no shortage of potential playmakers for Mayfield to get the ball to.

Landry is obviously not the number one man in Cleveland anymore. But at number two, Landry will still get a lot of looks from Mayfield. In fact, his 149 targets from 2018 may not see a decrease. Beckham is likely to be double teamed at times and those would be perfect moments to get the ball to Landry. One thing Landry should do to get more fantasy owners on board is to be a bigger red zone threat. If he can push for closer to 10 touchdowns, he’d likely crack the top 20 in fantasy receivers.

Jarvis Landry Average Draft Position

According to Fantasy Football Calculator, Landry is currently projected to be the 10th pick of the sixth round in standard leagues. His fantasy value has taken a hit compared to 2018. Last year, Landry was pick number six in the fifth round of standard drafts. The three receivers ahead of Landry this year are Tyler Boyd, Alshon Jeffery, and D.J. Moore. While Landry has the ability to outplay expectations, the sixth round is a good place to take him. We haven’t seen what his production will be like with Beckham on the Browns.

Fantasy Football Draft Headquarters

Main photo:
Embed from Getty Images

Jarvis Landry is entering his second season with the Cleveland Browns.
