Cleveland Browns<\/strong> quarterback Robert Griffin<\/a><\/strong> III is officially designated to return from injured reserve and participated in practice today.<\/p>\n

RG3 was one of the Browns main free agency signings over the past summer, but has been sidelined with injury since Week One in their game against the Philadelphia Eagles<\/strong>. Before his injury, he went 12 for 26 for 190 passing yards and rushed five times for 37 rushing yards. During one of those scampers, Griffin was hurt by a tackler on a nine-yard rush. He sustained a fractured coracoid bone in his left shoulder. He has been sidelined ever since.<\/p>\n

In his absence, the Browns went winless and had to play four different quarterbacks in his place. However, the Browns may see the return of their captain by Week 13 thanks to the new injured reserve rules.<\/p>\n

Injured Reserved Rules<\/h2>\n

Under the injured reserve rules implemented to the league in 2012, one player is allowed to return from the formerly season-ending injury list after missing six weeks of practice. After eight weeks that player can return to the active roster.<\/p>\n

After practicing today, the Browns now have 21 days to activate the former Offensive Rookie of the Year.<\/p>\n

NFL.com reported head coach Hue Jackson<\/strong> said Griffin moved around freely without pads in practice. But, Jackson wants to see progression before the team makes a final decision.<\/p>\n

In the meanwhile, the Browns will be rolling with quarterback Josh McCown<\/a><\/strong>. He is starting against the New York Giants<\/strong> in place of concussed rookie Cody Kessler<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

McCown has a tall task ahead of himself facing off against a Giants defense who has eight interceptions over the last four games played. Sunday’s game at First Energy Stadium in Cleveland kicks off at 1 PM and will be televised on FOX.<\/p>\n
