The deal also gives him the most guaranteed money in NFL history. In his absence, then-backup <strong>Nick Foles<\/strong> took the Eagles to the playoffs twice, including their win in Super Bowl LII. Wentz missed the final three games and playoffs of the 2017 season due to a torn ACL and missed the final five games, as well as the playoffs, last season as a result of a stress fracture in his back.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In three seasons, the former second-overall pick has passed for 10,152 yards and 70 touchdowns. He was named to the Pro Bowl in 2017, and prior to his injury, was considered one of the top candidates to win the NFL\u2019s MVP award. Tight end <strong>Zach Ertz<\/strong> had high praise for the quarterback earlier this week saying that, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pennlive.com\/philadelphiaeagles\/2019\/06\/what-we-learned-at-philadelphia-eagles-otas-carson-wentz-desean-jackson-offensive-line-injuries-and-more.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u201cthe guy probably should have won it two years ago, and he&#8217;s playing at a very similar level to that right now as he was then, in my opinion.\u201d\u00a0<\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He has been a full participant in OTAs.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Wentz already ranks sixth all-time in Eagles franchise history in passing yards and touchdown passes, as well as setting the franchise record for most touchdown passes in a single season. He is 23-17 as a starter and has yet to start a playoff game.
