Led by 2018 Heisman Trophy winner and number one overall draft pick quarterback\u00a0<\/span><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/bakermayfield\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Baker Mayfield<\/a><\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, they have their sights set on dethroning <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/B\/BradTo00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Tom Brady<\/a><\/strong> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonprofootball.com\/nfl-teams\/patriots\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">New England Patriots<\/a>. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mayfield isn\u2019t alone. Running back<strong>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/C\/ChubNi00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Nick Chubb<\/a><\/strong> and ex-Chiefs running back<strong>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/H\/HuntKa00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Kareem Hunt<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0join him in the backfield. Hunt should join the Browns after serving an eight-game suspension for an\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nfl.com\/news\/story\/0ap3000001022826\/article\/nfl-suspends-browns-rb-kareem-hunt-eight-games\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">assault of a woman<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> last year. Also, in the past two seasons, the Browns reshaped their receiving corps. The team drafted tight end<strong>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/N\/NjokDa00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">David Njoku<\/a><\/strong> from the \u201cU\u201d in 2017. Cleveland acquired <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/L\/LandJa00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jarvis Landry<\/a><\/strong> as a free-agent in 2018 and this off-season added Landry\u2019s LSU teammate <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/B\/BeckOd00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Odell Beckham<\/a><\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Browns defense should be even better as well. Defensive end<strong>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/G\/GarrMy00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Myles Garrett<\/a><\/strong> and cornerback\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/W\/WardDe02.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Denzel Ward<\/a><\/strong> will be joined by veteran pass rusher <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/V\/VernOl00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Olivier Vernon<\/a><\/strong> and defensive tackle\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/R\/RichSh00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Sheldon Richardson<\/a><\/strong>. Managing the egos of all these stars will be a challenge for rookie head coach <strong>Freddie Kitchens<\/strong>. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">How much Mayfield has progressed and how quickly he can incorporate all his playmakers into the mix will decide whether they are Super Bowl contenders or pretenders. But more than one person believes in the Browns. They have the highest pre-season <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.casino.org\/news\/cleveland-browns-super-bowl-odds-slashed-following-obj-trade\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Super Bowl odds (14-1)<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> since their return to the league in 1999.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Same Ol\u2019 Jets?<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The selection of <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/B\/BarkSa00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Saquon Barkley<\/a><\/strong> by <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonprofootball.com\/nfl-teams\/giants\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">New York Giants<\/a> allowed the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.newyorkjets.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">New York Jets<\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to select USC quarterback\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/D\/DarnSa00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Sam Darnold<\/a><\/strong> third overall in 2018. Darnold showed flashes of greatness in year one, but the roster needed serious upgrades. The Jets got busy this off-season. They debuted <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nfl.com\/photoessays\/0ap3000001025240\/new-york-jets-new-uniforms-revealed\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">new uniforms<\/a> and acquired several new players via draft and free agency. Darnold has his sights set on ending the Patriots reign over the AFC East.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> The Jets signed ex-<a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonprofootball.com\/nfl-teams\/ravens\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Baltimore\u00a0Ravens<\/a> linebacker\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/search\/search.fcgi?pid=MoslC.00,MoslC.20&amp;search=C.J.+Mosley&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">C.J. Mosley<\/a><\/strong> and drafted top defensive lineman\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/lwosonnfl.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/2019\/02\/26\/quinnen-williams-2019-nfl-draft-profile\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Quinnen Williams<\/strong><\/a> from Alabama to bolster their defense. On offense, the Jets signed the premier free agent in the league, running back<strong>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/B\/BellLe00.htm\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Le\u2019Veon Bell<\/a><\/strong>. Bell sat out all of the 2018 regular season due to a contract dispute with the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonprofootball.com\/nfl-teams\/steelers\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Pittsburgh Steelers<\/a>. In Bell, the Jets get a playmaker capable of\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/B\/BellLe00.htm\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">1,946 yards<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> from scrimmage and double-digit touchdowns. But even with the addition of Bell, Darnold doesn\u2019t have an elite number one receiver. The Jets\u2019 current wide receivers <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/E\/EnunQu00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Quincy Enunwa<\/a><\/strong>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/A\/AndeRo04.htm\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Robby Anderson<\/strong><\/a>, and free agent <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/C\/CrowJa00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jamison Crowder<\/a><\/strong>. That\u2019s not exactly <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/C\/CartCr00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Cris Carter<\/a><\/strong>, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/R\/ReedJa00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jake Reed<\/a><\/strong>, and <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/M\/MossRa00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Randy Moss<\/a><\/strong>. <\/span><\/p>\n<p>The Jets acquired a lot of talent, but the organization appears in turmoil. Owner <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/search\/search.fcgi?pid=JohnCh04,JohnCh26,JohnCh25,JohnCh24&amp;search=Chris+Johnson&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Chris Johnson<\/a><\/strong> announced the firing of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2019\/05\/15\/sports\/jets-fire-gm-mike-maccagnan.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">general manager<\/a><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2019\/05\/15\/sports\/jets-fire-gm-mike-maccagnan.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> Mike Maccagnan<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0in May. The timing of the move raised eyebrows league-wide. What kind of owner fires their GM after running your draft and negotiating nearly $200 million in contracts to free agents? There a word for this kind of organization&#8211;dysfunctional.<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Next Marino?<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonprofootball.com\/nfl-teams\/cardinals\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Arizona Cardinals<\/a> hired <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/K\/KingKl00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Kliff Kingsbury<\/a><\/strong> as their new head coach and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nfl.com\/draft\/home\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">drafted\u00a0<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">quarterback<a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonprofootball.com\/2019\/02\/04\/kyler-murray-2019-nfl-draft-profile\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong> Kyler Murray<\/strong><\/a> first overall, last year\u2019s first-round draft pick <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/R\/RoseJo01.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Josh Rosen<\/a><\/strong> became expendable. Rosen was rumored to be on several teams&#8217; radar, but ultimately he was acquired by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/story\/sports\/nfl\/2019\/04\/26\/dolphins-acquire-quarterback-josh-rosen-in-deal-with-arizona\/39406419\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Miami Dolphins<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">New Dolphins head coach <strong>Brian Flores<\/strong>\u00a0must not believe in Rosen\u2019s potential. Currently, the former UCLA signal caller is veteran <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/F\/FitzRy00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ryan Fitzpatrick<\/a>&#8216;s<\/strong> backup. Perhaps the organization agrees with Josh&#8217;s online haters. He&#8217;s been called a privileged\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sbnation.com\/nfl\/2018\/4\/25\/17249082\/josh-rosen-draft-ucla-qb-comments\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">millennial<\/a>, with a sense of entitlement. Dolphins fans might have to wait longer to replace their memories of the &#8217;72 Dolphins or <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/M\/MariDa00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Dan Marino<\/a><\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>Projections<\/h3>\n<p>The Patriots are a year older and with the retirement of All-Pro tight end\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/G\/GronRo00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Rob Gronkowski<\/a><\/strong>, Brady lost his favorite target. <strong>Bill Belichick<\/strong> is hoping the acquisitions of <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/T\/ThomDe03.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Demaryius Thomas<\/a><\/strong> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/S\/SefeAu00.htm\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Austin Seferian-Jenkins<\/strong><\/a> will offset the loss of Gronk. The AFC has tried to improve, but Patriots remain the class of the division.
