Kyle Shurmur 2019 NFL Draft Profile<\/strong><\/h1>\n

Kyle Shurmur<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0rewrote the record books during his tenure at Vanderbilt.\u00a0 His football I.Q. and game intelligence struck fear into many opponents last season.\u00a0 If Vanderbilt had the roster depth of the other SEC schools, Shurmur would be a household name with an upset of Notre Dame. Yet his lack of supporting cast depth lead to several “almost” wins over ranked teams. As Shurmur settled into Vanderbilt’s offensive system his quarterback rating and stats increased exponentially.<\/p>\n

Shurmur was born into an athletic and football-rich family. His dad is a longtime NFL coach, coordinator, and now the head coach of the New York Giants, Pat Shurmur<\/a><\/strong>. He taught Kyle the core fundamentals essential to a quarterback, throwing and footwork. Shurmur’s summers as a coach’s kid included throwing passes with Donovan McNabb. As well as attending the Manning’s Passing Camps. Kyle is used to preconceived expectations as the kid of a coach, yet he has no problem standing on his own. Shurmur finished his Vanderbilt career with\u00a08,865 passing yards, 723 pass completions, and 1,273 pass attempts, as well as 64 touchdown passes. During his senior season, he\u00a0completed 62.6 percent of passes as a 13-game starter (254-of-406). He passed for 3,130 yards and 24 touchdowns. Shurmur’s passing yardage, completion percentage as well as total completions were single-season career highs. In his last four regular-season games, all against SEC teams, Shurmur was virtually unstoppable with 90-of-123 (73 percent). He had 11 touchdowns and one interception. Shurmur earned SEC Player of the Week after his third consecutive win over Tennessee on November 24th. He is the first Vanderbilt quarterback to beat Tennessee three times since the 1920s.<\/div>\n
